Hi Flawless Desire I have also been wondering where all the people from this thread are gone... maybe it is because summer is over, and everybody has a lot to do at work/school etc. Good to hear that things are going better for you. When you write, you got a lot of helpful tips, do you mean from this site? Otherwise, please share..... BTW - how are things going otherwise? Any morning sickness? hoppe

Hey there! I've been reading some messages on this board and I think the 21 days 'countdown' is a great idea! I've been picking for six years now and really getting tired of myself not being able to get rid of this habbit. Sometimes I manage to have two or three picking-free days, but I always fall back. Think this chart might actually help. Are there some people who'd like to join me? Then we can support eachother I've planned to start next monday, because that's the day on which I can print out the chart (don't have a printer at home). By the way, does anyone know a Dutch site about this topic?! Lizz

;)Hello everyone. I am returning to this board after a brief episode of being "cured". I love the idea of the chart and I'm going to give it a try. I realized tonight, after picking for about a half hour, that I haven't actually gotten humble and asked for help. I've tried just about everything I've got in my tool box but I've never just asked you guys for help. Anyway, I'm going to start a new thread and I'd really appreciate any support you can offer. Thanx for the great chart. It's just what I needed to get me up again and back on the right path.

Hey, I am trying the 21 days to break a habit and feel confident that im getting far- I was wondering to those who completed the 21 days, how it felt the last day, and more importantly how you feel and look now? Are you still pick free? I hope I get a good reply and that all is going well!!! reflection

I just wanted to report that I have found the 21-day system very helpful.
On my first try, I went four days, and then succumbed to a pretty serious picking event and started over.
On my second try, I ended up squeezing a couple clogged pores after about 5 days -- but I spent only a minute or two on it, didn't damage my skin -- it wasn't a true picking session. I felt like the effort that I put into stopping at the 2 pores was part of the same effort that had gooten me to day 5.... It seemed like it would be more defeating than anything to KEEP starting over.
So I revised my goal from Zero Tolerance to just not getting absorbed in a pick session, not damaging my skin...
And I was able to get through the 21 days with that goal -- I think I enaged in minor pore squeezing or rubbing a pimple about 3 or 4 times. Each time, I wrote in a section of my little box for that day, but colored the rest of the box in, for the parts of the day I succeeded in resisting.
Then I decided to try a true Zero Tolerance 21 days right after the first 21 days -- so, what would have been day 22 was day 1 again, with renewed commitment, feeling like my skin was in a better starting place.
I am not sure if I can/ need to go through my entire life without ever squeezing out a clogged pore, or something similar/ minor, But I figured it should be possible for 21 days, and then I can have the "info/ data" to determine if no touching at all is really the best/ easiest/ possible path.
So far, I am on day 8 of the absolute ZT. I feel like the 21 days where I allowed myself so minor "slip-ups" were vital in building my confidence that I could reduce my "working" on my skin, and reminding me that pimples can come & go on their own, and also in just lowering my interest-level in focusing on my pores and pimples.
I know that I have gone through better (nearly pick free) and worse periods in my life-of-picking before (from ages 15 - 31).
But I think having the chart and the commitment to pay attention, to be aware everyday has been really helpful. Unlike previous Good times, when I wasn't paying that much attention to my skin -- I feel like over these pick free days I have been more able to gain strength/ confidence in not picking, because I have been conscious of my state of mind, how much free-er it feels ,etc.
Also crucial -- and I think the key -- has been having a ZT partner... we have written to each other almost daily on this board. We haven't been on the same day, but both attempting 21 days. For me, it's been more helpful than therapy -- because it's more frequent & it has prevented me from slipping off the path to an unnaccountable, isolated picking zone....
I know I still have lots of time, and probably a few set backs, before I can maybe think of this as a problem I once had -- but I just wanted to chime in that the 21 days have been very useful for me... not insisting on perfection with them, but keeping them as a thread to follow, a way to stay conscious of my progress/ difficulties.
