i love animals and it seems like several of you do too, so here it is folks! our chance to rave about our furry, scaly, or feathery friends! i'll start... i'm mama to a 3 1/2 year old, 18 pound, orange & white cat named Pi. he was a stray i adopted 3 years ago from a coworker and it was one of the best things i've ever done. i believe it was meant to be, you know what i mean? finding him was total serendipity -- i said to myself one morning, "today i'm going to get a cat". i went to work and overheard someone say she had a cat for adoption. i said "i'm in the market for a cat!" i looked at his photo and knew he was the one. he's a very handsome guy. has tons of unique markings: orange mustache and beard, 2 orange spots on the back of his neck, a white lightning bolt down one front leg, a big orange blotch on his belly. even though he's just a mutt of a cat, he's got a slender elegant face, so we think he has some siamese in him. he has orangey-green eyes and the loudest purr you've ever heard. we named him for One Pie brand of pumpkin pie mix because he's orange. our friend Henry thought of it and it's perfect because he's about the shape of a pie (yes, sadly he's a bit round) and he's a total sweetie (which may explain why he ended up so round). he keeps us well entertained and well loved. and well covered in fur. looking forward to hearing about your pets! xoxo

I have some fish, no names except for the one big one who chases the other fish away from the food I call him fat bastard. I had two finches, Fred & Ginger. Unfortunatly, Ginger met with an untimely death which brings me to my cat, Buddy. 24.7 pounds of I'll kill and eat anything that isn't a human. Oh, he's not horribly fat or anything he's a little chubby but his healthy weight is 20 pounds so you can tell he's just a very big boy! He's a Tabby and a sweetheart, even if he does have the blood of another pet all over his paws. He's uppety, yes my cat's a snob. For instance he's refuses to put his face in the bowl, no no no, he has to scoop out each kernel of his food and eat out of his paw. He has many quirks like that, it's adorable. And yes, he ate my Ginger. My aunt (in a sleep-drunken stupor) opened the cage door in the middle of the night Christmas Eve. If him eating her wasn't enough, he threw her back up around lunch. I always put him in the bedroom when I let the birds out so I guess he thought it was a free-for-all when she came bounding out of the cage. I didn't punish him, it's an instinct and he's never tried to get at them while in there cage. I didn't speak to him for two days though, I was upset and he knew, that's the only time he never left my side.

I have two black labs -- Ozzy, who is a hyper, spastic, ball-catching maniac who loves swimming and playing. The other dog, Jake, is an ex-leader dog for the blind, is serious and cautious and has really learned to loooooove food since his "retirement." We also have a turtle. Her name is Skipperdee, after the pet turtle of the same name in the Eloise series of children's books. Skipperdee likes eating worms and long walks around the bathtub.

I have a new puppy named Tex. He's about 15 weeks old and smart as anything. Except, he enjoys gnawing on flesh and chasing his cat toys around the kitchen. He eats, sleeps, and runs around. He's damn cute and listens fairly well. He's a dachshund, a mini. He looks like a cow. LOL.
My other doggy got hit by a car this summer. That was sad. My Sammy. Sam was also a dachshund. He was almost 3 yrs old and he was smart too.
Luckily Tex is picking up some of Sam's old quirks that we loved so its great. Sometimes I still wish Sam were around just because the whole puppy deal is rough; but im sure Tex is going to be everything Sam was and more! I love my Tex!

We have a puppy named Macey, she is a mixed breed - half boxer. She is four months old and just full of that puppy energy. We try not to spoil her too much, we would love to but don't want to have to deal with that forever!! The poeple that live behind us also have a puppy who is about 7 months old and they are buds, Macey has jumped the fence, crawled under the fence - anything to see her buddy Rex. So needless to say we were filling up holes this weekend! I also have a 3 year old son who terrorizes her every chance he gets and Macey keeps coming back for more. She is not allowed in his room since that is his space. They are getting pretty close but only when my son wants to be! I think he may be jealous - he got ALL the attention before the puppy came along!

I have two Westies. My girl, Princess, age 8, and my sweet liitle boy, MacDuff, age 5. Since I don't have any children, they are my "kids." They are my pride and joy! Princess likes to sleep on pillows and MacDuff's favorite toy is a green plastic squeaky ball that has porcupine-type ridges all over it. He'll pick it up and repeatedly drop it on my feet until I throw it for him. They both are crazy about cheese and both will come running into the kitchen if they hear the cheese wrapper. They love to go for walks and sniff every mailbox on the street! We call them little cuddle-monsters because they will cuddle with us every chance they get. When they get cold at night, they even crawl under the blankets with us! Then they get too warm so they crawl back up and curl up on a pillow (usually one that has my head on it!).

obnoxa, i'm really sorry about what happened to ginger. it's not fair. i know what you mean about not scolding them. yesterday, pi brought us a squirrel... i couldn't believe my sweet cuddly cat would kill a squirrel, but he sat there so proud and pretty after delivering it to the front porch. all i could do was say thank you... azarae, what are bettas and thingytoos? sound very exotic.

I have a beautiful 12 year old cat named Chaos! She lives up to her name every day- always doing something wacky. She may be 12, but she can jump up REAL high to catch these plastiic ring toys we have for her. Lately, she won't let me sleep - tries to lick my face to get me out of bed!

Ok, you can tell I'm new, because my name keeps showing up on the posts! I have a black dog, Delilah, that we adopted from one of the offenders my husband had on probation. When someone asks what kind of dog we have, I tell them 'a black dog'. She's some kind of lab mix. We've got a black & white cat, Whiskers, that we adopted from a former client of mine, who just finished up some time in prison. A manx (no tail, tiger) cat, Tiger Lily, who was found as an infant in the drop-ceiling of my husband's office. I have 2 bettas, Aloyisious (home) and Mozart Rainbow Fish (work). We also have a 30 gallon tropical fish tank with Henry, a black tetra, (since 2000) and some other fish that we got to replace others who've died along the way. Our pleco in the tank has gotten to be about 6 inches long and we really need to bring him back to the store and get a smaller one. I have a husband and a 9 year old son, but I guess they don't count as pets, huh?
