Hi all I just wonder if anyone here has tried effexor (venlafaxine) ? My doctor has recommended it to me, but I am not sure, if I want to take it. Please tell me about your experiences with it (including dose, side effects etc. ). Thank you!!  hoppe |

hiya! yup, ive been taking it since february. i had some initial side effects for the first 5 or 6 days- nothing too terrible tho'... just lightheadedness, sleepiness and unhungryness, and a bit of nausea. pretty standard stuff according to the literature! since then its been fine. the anxiety and depression are much better, although i find this is at the expense of my ability to feel emotional extremes which is a bit of a shame at the happiness end of the spectrum. but, on balance things are much more managable and im not complaining it doesnt seem to affect my picking either way tho'... however, both myself and a close friend feel that missing a dose seems to precipitate much gloom and i have heard other people say its a tough one to stop taking and that you need to do it reaaaaally slowly. mind you, all this is very person-specific. i had prozac before and had no probs at all with it, whereas ive heard a lot of people say it didnt work out for them. hope this is of some help. rae xxx |
