Corinthians 10
13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
2 Peter 1
Making One's Calling and Election Sure
3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
Knowing Your Weaknesses
You know your self well, don't you? You know what foods you enjoy, what foods turn your stomach, what colors please your eye, and which colors you like to avoid. You know what makes you happy, what makes you sad, what gives you pleasure, and what invokes pain. We seem to be greatly aware of all these. Yet, when it comes to our weaknesses, the things that tempt and threaten our moral standing, most of us seem to push these aside.
No man likes to admit he is weak, for admitting weakness means we are vulnerable, prone to stumbling and falling. If strength is power, then weakness is lack of power; so, we walk tall, giving others the impression we are mighty fortresses spared from potential enemy attack. The only problem is, just when we aren't looking, our walls may be slowly crumbling, ready to cave in at the slightest wind of turmoil.
Admitting we are human and prone to human frailties is not a sign of weakness, but an act of strength, courage, and wisdom. One cannot defeat his enemy if he does not know who it is.
Know yourself and know your weaknesses, the things that threaten to pull you into a path of destruction and farther away from God. Pray to our Heavenly Father for wisdom to see what these are, strength to avoid such temptations, and pray for understanding so the desire to do what is good and pleasing in His eyes will remain in your heart.
