I'd been doing well with ZT for quite some time. Then, last Thursday, I really went at it on my poor face. I was a mess.
There's this guy I've been meaning to ask out for months but I always put it off for a time when I'm less busy. Thursday night I had to go into the lab where he works. I felt awful since my face was an oozy mess. I was working on my project and I started to think, "well, my life sucks infinitely much. I might as well ask him out now, because if he says no, it will just be a small droplet of gloom in my deep sea of dispair. What difference will it make." And the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a good idea. Because, furthermore, I decided that anyone who's turned off by the scabby verson of me isn't someone I want to date anyway.
So, ironically, on the day my skin looked its WORST I asked him out. And he said yes. I've hung out with him everyday since then. I hung out with him so much this weekend that I didn't have time to re-pick my face. It's healed so much in the past few days!
Don't let picking stop you from doing the things you really want to do.

Yay, Heather! Way to be! ;D
I have a little bit of a breakdown just about a week before you did. It was tough. I was really, really down on myself and I remained displeased with myself through the weekend and into the next week.
Then, last Tuesday, my good friend came into town and on last Wednesday we drove up to Toronto for a figure skating competition. We were SO busy having fun -- being at the arena for 12-14 hours a day watching practices and then watching the actual competition -- that there wasn't any time for picking. Oddly enough, I didn't even think about it. I didn't even realize that my face had entirely healed until this morning. Needless to say, I'm thrilled.
Is it all a matter of being busy enough? Of finding priority? I couldn't tell you it's that easy. And I'd never claim that I'm healed, especially after a week. But I feel like I've been jumpstarted. This conscious no-picking is starting on a truly clean slate...
...maybe it's what I need.
Heather, congrats on the new boy, but CONGRATS on having the guts to ask him out. That takes a lot more confidence than I think I'll ever have.

Hi. I'm new here and I'm trying my best to read up on all the threads so as to not ask questions that may have already been covered.
However, I can't seem to find out what ZT is. I'm guessing the "T" stands for therapy? I dunno! Thank you for your patience!

Farmgirl-
Zero Tolerance....some of us are trying to stop picking using a zero tolerance method where no picking is acceptable. Most of us have picked but we are not giving up.....
There is a whole section on ZT on this board, you should check it out.
Also, Welcome to the board hope you find it as helpful as I have. The people here are wonderful!!

Way to go, Heather!!!! ;D ;D ;D For anyone who reads my posts, you've probably noticed that there is sort of a running theme--don't let your picking get in the way of your life! And you just provided an excellent example! Even if it had turned out differently, the point is you did it! Hooray!!!! Elsie
