Hey girls! You're doing WONDERFUL! Welcome aboard, e, and anyone else who cares to join us. Today I had a very close call but I managed to pull through. I started to pick at one spot, then I used the tally technique my new shrink recommended. It worked! I stopped before I even broke the skin. I got mad at myself, but you know what? I shouldn't be mad. I resisted the WORST temptation...partially picked skin. Normally I would've gone to town on that spot, and then made 7 more just like it! It's so important that we stay away from black and white thinking...("oh, I picked one spot, well, that proves I suck, so I might as well fuck over my whole face.") No. Always ask yourslef, "what is the best thing I can do for myself right now, in these circumstances?" I learned my lesson and tomorrow i won't even TOUCH my skin. I got fake nails today too, so I'll be even less tempted to mess with my face. I find picking so cumbersome with long nails!
I'm super proud of you guys. Good luck with day 4.

Hi all, I am still doing good. However, I am beginning to think that I don't care, which is the first way I always justify what I do. Once I get absorbed in thinking it's no big deal anyway, forgetting what I truly care about I usually start picking right away. At this point I haven't but would really appreciate any suggestions about how to deal with this. Thanks and keep it up. Jules

thanks for the message Heather. Keep up the good work. Same thing happened to me. I started a spot, and i did not make it worse. that is a beginning.
i like what you said about "i need to think what is the best thing to to for myself at this moment" and think about the bigger picture, consequences.

I survived. I picked some old scabs and one spot that was actually painful. But it actually hurt to pick at it so I stopped. ;D I think I might make it!
