Have you guys checked out stoppicking.com?
There is one thing about the website that really irks me...the pictures of people with absolutely flawless skin. There is one that shows a woman in a backless shirt, another shows a woman in a swimming pool. Both have crystal-clear porcelain skin. Why on earth would you put pictures like that on a website dedicated to skin picking? It's like they're trying to sell you that image..."quit picking and your skin will look like this." What a lie. I am wholly convinced that the only way to truly get over picking once and for all is to give up on trying to be perfect. That includes giving up on the idea of perfect skin. Sure, our skin is going to be beautiful when we stop picking, but it's never going to be PERFECT.
I dunno. It just seems irresponsible to me to post those sorts of pictures on a website geared towards pickers.
What do you guys think?

I think it looked like a big scam....someone with $$ signs in their eyes found out about CSP & thought they'd sell some "miracle cure"...

maybe i'm gullible or naive, but i think the site is pretty damn interesting, at the least...it puts the spotlight on our disorder, which has been wholly ignored for a very, very long time. their method of treatment seems to be exactly what has worked for me, however i don't see why the developers had to put a price on the treatment and the site...being that they are all doctors and researchers at Harvard, i'm sure they're making enough money on their own.
it's not something i would sign up for, b/c you can use their ideas to treat yourself, but i think it's great that there is a site out there with such accurate information. all their facts seemed to be right on the mark. they described how different sufferers' picking urges/triggers can be but how similar their suffering really is. i really hope it's a sign of things to come. i plan on going into psychology and i think this will be my main focus. i was so surprised to know that Harvard had extensive research studies about skin picking. How cool is that?

Well, of course, I don't like the fact that they completely ignore any other stuff on the web (particularly this site and aboutface) and pretend like they are geniuses for coming on the web and dealing with this.
Also, I don't like the fact that it costs $30/mo and you have to go through the "assessment" phase for AT LEAST 3-5 weeks, depending on how many times you enter your information.
And...I honestly don't think it would help. I mean, I have mapped out my picking and urges and when they occur. I KNOW already when I'm most vulnerable.
What I need is like a weight-watchers type thing in person where I have to be accountable for my actions and everyone is happy with you when you're good, or sympathizes when you're not. I mean, you guys ROCK and this is wonderful, but I hope you know what I mean.
But, I might just be a cynic and I hope someone gets something out of it.

Okay, I was a little grumpy last night, so I'm going to take back what I said. A website costs alot of money to run (w/o ads) and I'm going to hope that this is why the website costs a good amount. I think maybe it's worth a try for those of you who have the money. Maybe it's not a miracle cure, but for people who spend a large amount of time on the web, maybe it will make you accountable for your actions by typing in how often you pick and whatnot. (I called my mom and she said all these things to me and they made sense, so I changed my view). Now, I agree that the people with clear skin are annoying, but maybe that's supposed to be motivation? Sorry, kathy

I checked out the website and I thought it looked legit. I do think it is nice that there is another website out there that focuses on skin picking. I agree with angelkiss, the information seemed to be accurate but I don't know why they have to charge money either for their help. It says right on the first page that what they do is not thearpy. I didn't really read everything on the website, so maybe I spoke too soon! I don't know. But I would be really interested in heraing from someone who has tried it to see if it really worth it. pickles
