Any dancers out there? I have never really formally introduced myself on here, but I love dancing. I do ballet, pointe, and tap. I also like writing poetry, reading, singing, and other stuff, but dancing is one of my major hobbies. I have been doing it since I was in kindergarten, and now I am in tenth grade.

Hey Ari. I'm no brilliant dancer myself but I am definitely a skater. I've been ice skating since i can remember and now I have saved for years for my dream to come true and I am hopefully going to take up figureskating with a coach one to one soon. I am already 16 but have waited my whole life for this oppurtunity. I know most people don't reeeally appreciate figureskating but it is so beautiful and expressive. I have prepared my own body for it and done so much practice in my spare time i really hope it pays off.
Ballet is fantastic, i love watching ballets and i admire people who have the will to do something like that..not everyone has a gift like that.
I enjoy writing poetries too and short stories. Like you I sing loads, ive just done my grade 5 it was scari! but im still in a choir which is huge and really fun :)what kind of songs do you like singing? I like ordering all the music to my favourite songs and then playing them along and singing on the piano..gives you kicks! At the mo im really into RnB like alicia keys and im into Mariah Carey too. Apart from that I like singing foreign stuff and anything pretty really! Just wondering how old you are?
Talk soon Jess-x-

Playinwitfire- Well, to start off, I am 15 years old, but I turn 16 in September. And then I get my permit! :-) Anyway, that is really cool that you are into ice skating. That is a very difficult thing to do, so like you with ballet, I admire people who can do ice skating. Whenever I try, after about 2 minutes, my butt is on the floor. Figure skating and ballet are alike though, because they both are very beautiful and expressive. Maybe if we do those things, we will not pick. I know that when I am dancing, I do not pick. I like singing pretty much anything. I love show music, especially songs from Chicago. That is one of my favorite shows, as well as Phantom of the Oprah and Les Miserables. I also like some country and most of the bands that play their own music, not those computerized digital sound things. In school, I am also in choir, but our choir is small and the people are not very dedicated, which kind of ruins the experience :-( Well, that's a lot about me. I am so happy someone replied to what I wrote here, nobody had for a while so far! TTYL Ari :-)

Hey guys, I know this is kind of an old thread, but I'm new to the boards so I figured I'd respond anyway. I've been dancing for 12 years. I'm 23 now. Mostly ballet, but I've done tap, modern, and hip-hop at various times. I'm about to start a graduate program in theatre, and while studying that I will be able to take a lot of dance history courses as well as continue with ballet. I might be a dance critic, among other things, someday.
I know a lot of people who dance when they were kids/teenagers and quit at age 15 or 16. Now, when they hear how I still dance, they are jealous! They can't do the splits or anything anymore, they are jealous of my sleek muscley legs, and they wish they had the great stress outlet that dance class provides. But it is hard to go back after too much time off because I guess they would feel clumsy. So, Ari, I encourage you to keep it up. For me, it's going to be a lifetime thing. When I get too old for ballet, I will focus more on tap since it's a little less physically demanding and I've seen 75 year olds who are great tappers. That's gonna be me.
Too bad I'm an arm-picker so I can't wear sleeveless leotards. Ah well-- great motivation to quit!!
Later.

Thanks for the encouragement, Irene. I will definitely try to stick with the ballet.
