I'm 15 as well. I've been picking since i was in 5th grade and its driving me crazy! I hate the way my skin looks and i envy all the others girls who have beautiful, even-colored skin. I agree that it is harder for us teens because we are so pressured and conscience of our looks. I just hope I can stop soon. Any tips from a fellow teen?

hiya every1! im 19 years young....and have been picking for about 7 years now...so since im 12.....to all u out there who are younger ... u can already be really proud of yourselves that u made it this far. With far i mean realizing that u have a problem and trying to look into that problem (ie finding this support board was step 1) im sure had i found this board earlier i wouldnt have picked up to this point in my life, (and wouldnt have the many scarrs i do)but im happy i found this board (if now or earlier) the main point is i found it and its helping!! yes its true that picking may be worse in the teenage years,...but u guys remember...all those 20-30+ year olds also went through puberty and probably went through what we are going through now...just that they didnt do anything about it then...thats why they r still picking now(so they actually have it harder than us)....my advice to u all is keep posting on here and try and get some proffessional help (ie. therapy or psychotherapy, )....well i gotta get going ! hope evry1 is doing ok! xxx mellie ;D

Hey Mellie, I agree, the young'uns do have a lot of guts for meeting this issue head on. I don't really belong on this thread, as I am 26, but I wanted to reply to you. Myself, and the many people older than I am who pick their skin didn't have the resources that you guys have. CSP didn't exist as more than a disgusting habit. I know you didn't mean anything by it, but its not as though we didn't try to quit, its that we haven't been able to. Plus, without resources, support, medical help etcetera, it has been very difficult for those of us who have been struggling all our lives. I've been at it for 15 years, and in my experience, it doesn't really matter in the long run how hard you try. What really matters is if there is a support system there for you to keep you from picking and comfort you when you do pick. I am very happy for you guys getting a headstart on this. You have an opportunity to get the support you need early in life. I wish you all the very best . Fay

Hi Fay i had to reply back cause really...when i read ur msg i thought it was really touching ( just thought u might like to know that!!) i definatly didnt mean it in the way that u guys didnt 'do anything about it'....and yeah that is so true...of coarse the CSP wasnt researched into,...was it even given the name back then!?!,,....anyway i totally understand that! thank u for the positive vibes...and i totally agree with the support system being THE most important for us pickers...if we want to overcome this disorder! i hope this board also helps u lot and just remember whenever u get the urge...TYPE! we're all here for each other and thats the main thing....take care and talk soon mellie xx ;D

I just joined the site literally 3 mins ago...Its a weight off my shoulders just knowing there is other people out there with my problem. I just finished surviving the first year of college, which makes me 19.
