I have been picking since I was 7 or so-it started w/ mosquito bites on my legs. I have scars on my legs and have tried this stuff call hydroquinone-it seems to have a helped a little-but it comes in a very small tube and it is a Rx. Now-I am picking my back and shoulders-they look awful and my scalp. I really cannot stop.
I am going to see a dermatologist as the first step to see if I can get some topical meds to get me started, then I am going to go see a psyc. for OCD's. I have to get on some kind of medication. I am on 40mg of Paxil right now and I think it is making me more obsessive compulsive.
I need help. I don't even know where to start. I am embarrassed to wear skirts and shorts, and forget about a bathing suit.

Well even though I guess I'm a noob around here- hi and welcome! Although we all deal differently, I think we can all relate to everyone's problems. To me, this board is comforting just knowing that there are others that have the same issues. One thing that I think helps me the most is when I have a "good skin" day- I look at how well the scars are healing and it makes me not want to pick new ones and try heal. I try use this as "positive reinforcement" not to pick because I can see the rewards. I wish you the best of luck!

Paxil made me much much worse too, so you're not the only one. Celexa has helped the depression but not so much the picking.
Anyway, best of luck. I hope you can find a good drug/therapy. I hope we all can.
