Ok...here are mine!
Mellow mood: Morcheeba, Crowded House, Starflyer 59, Michael Penn
Agressive Mood: Quarashi, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, The Vines, White Stripes, Chemical Brothers
Mainstream: REM, U2
Oldies: The Beatles, The Monkees and OLD Motown!
Music from college years: DMB, The Cure, The Connells, The Breeders, Blur, Happy Mondays, Black Grape

I know, my list is long and weird. I am sure you can tell, I am anal about my music...my cd's (over 600) used to be in alphabetical order until Tate discovered them...now there's no hope until we teach her not to pull them out!
And I used to manage an indie music shop...so I had a lot of exposure to weird stuff!

Mostly anything rock is to my liking. I have 4 or 5 fave bands (Incubus, OLP, Fingertight, Thrice, A.F.I) but I like a lot more too. Im very impressed with the White Stripes but I have yet to buy their CD. My favorites singers are Brandon Boyd(incubus), Raine Maida(OLP), and Scott Rose(fingertight).

SORRY tellohvision! Darn, I though I turned off all of the censorship thingees on here. Can you retype that? Put dots b/w the letters or something. I'm sure their name is not "Sthingy" Anyway, I LOVE letters to cleo! And Elliot Smith. Good call, ladies. Well, I love alot of music. I love alot of country (mostly women singers- I don't know what it is about the men, but they bug me), most oldies, much classical, lots of acoustic rock, some old-time rock, and some (very little) pop. (I LOVE maroon5- they are sorta pop-rock I guess) Anyway, I love this thread Kathy

i love this thread too! big grin for those of you who like Crowded House and Ministry!
er... my taste is eclectic (from peter murphy to peter tchaikovsky). i'm not even sure where to start... i'll just tell you some songs that have played a role in my life.
our wedding recessional was "Hallelujah I Just Love Her So" by Ray Charles. a friend played it solo on the trombone. we let her pick whatever song she wanted and she happened to pick one of our favorite artists. our first dance was to "As" by Stevie Wonder. i think it's one of the best love songs ever written.
"Danse Macabre" does something to me. it moves me. it makes me move. it's the most thrilling piece of classical music i've ever heard.
"Stars & Stripes Forever" brings back some high school angst! i played the piccolo solo in that song during our final orchestra concert (let's hear it for flute players!). god, i was so nervous.
anything 80s alternative makes me happy. anything i can dance to is good. new stuff i like is White Stripes, Nelly, David Gray, even some Justin Timberlake!
as Louis Armstrong said "i like good music. doesn't matter what kind it is as long as it's good."
;D

I thought I knew a lot about music.......I'm a little behind. I was raised on elvis and buddy holly. I love oldies, especially motown. Going out dancing for me is about funk and oldies. I'm so not into dance music or rap. i need to hear the words. I also love the "singers and songwriters like james taylor, cat stevens, and harry chapin. lately i've been trying to catch up. I love new country, mostly the females but in keeping with my need to hear the words, i was just introduced to the music of Evan Dando, formerly of the lemonheads, Lit, and Guster. About ten years ago i decided i could die a happy woman because i saw the Moody Blues with thte Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. it was amazing. mostly i can bear almost anything as long as it doesn't make me nervous.....like many heavy metal and alternative groups can. I need an even environment. Oh.but i love ska and punk music too. Anybody know Me First and the Gimme Gimmes?. They cover the most unusual songs, like Broadway show tunes and TV songs but in punk.

Music is one of the biggest parts of my life (besides picking). My fave band is the Grateful Dead. Too bad Jerry's gone, but the Dead are touring right now without him. It's not the same, but it's still quite an experience! I go to a lot of hippie fests and concerts, which is something I always look forward to. My boyfriend is just starting out in a band, he plays lead guitar and is really good.
