My sister picks her face. She has been picking as long as I can remember and it seems to have gotten worse and worse this past year. We live together so I see it all the time, and I see her red ,wounded, mutilated face and it makes me want to cry. Previous to one month ago she blamed her blemishes on bad skin, but I did research on the internet and now she knows it is because she picks. She immediately quit picking when she realized what she was doing, but then she started again last week and her face is a disaster again. I try to talk to her about it but she yells at me, and tells me to leave her alone. I don't know what to do,but I know she isn't happy looking at herself like this. I told her about some therapies and she yelled at me saying she didn't have time or money(which our dad would pay for it), that is just an excuse. I can't understand why she won't take any measures to stop this, she has not done ONE single thing to try and stop. It hurts me to see her like this because I love her so much, this is ruining her life. Could someone please tell me what I can say to her or what I should do about this? -the sister

Go read the message about the supportive husband and try some of the things that he did with your sister. Tell her how beautiful she is and help her come up with ways to stop. But be supportive not critical. Face picking causes self esteem problems, so she needs your kind reminders that you love her and you want to help her. Hope this helps.
God Bless you!!

My sisters and I all do it, and we can't even talk about it amongst each other. How sad is that?
