I'm doing cognitive therapy right now and have come up with some things that have helped me out: -playdoh/sillyputty...or this thing called floam -slinkies -a beaded bracelet you can play with -chewing gum (helps if you have the tendency to want to eat the stuff....gross i know) -keeping a journal -reciting some encouraging words that tell you not to pick etc. and why you should not onto a 3-minute repetitive tape (they sell them at walmart etc.) and keeping it turned on while you are in the bathroom or feel like picking -making a list of the lies this disease tells you and the truths it tries to hide -using a timer whenever you are spending time in front of a mirror -covering mirror(s) with newspaper if neccesary -turning off lights in bathroom so you don't go look in mirror if uncovered -listening to music or singing/playing an instrument
