Hey everyone So I started seeing a Naturopath after months of wanting to but not feeling like she would understand my disorder. Turns out it was really cool, and we got talking about how what I eat might be related to what triggers my picking sessions. She tested me for food sensitivities, and I am now on a 4 week detox of no wheat, sugar, dairy or caffeine. I got crazy caffeine withdrawal head aches the first couple of days, but now I'm on day three and feel much better... Hasn't stopped the picking yet, and apparently my acne might get worse before it gets better as my body pushes toxins out. Has anyone else successfully found a food/picking link? I'll keep you updated on my progress.

My food related to picking thing is that if i pick i start to comfort eat which makes me even worser. But about 2 weeks ago i just thought this has got to stop its making me get down and making me put on weight so i started excerising and drinking lots of water and eating healthy and i thought it wouldn't make much difference at first but i was so wrong it makes all the difference trust me. The healthy food and water for a start has made a big improvment in my skin i am not getting as many spots as what i used to and the excerising i still don't like to do but i force myself and after ive done i think ive done something positive today even though the skin picking might still be there im not going to let it take over my eating habits as well.

Hey way to go! I did a detox and it really helped me kick the habit for a while..the willpower it takes to stick to it seems to somehow provide more willpower not to pick..cus ur realising wel i can manage this..so therefore i can also manage not to pick?!
Acne will get worse before it gets better. I got night sweats n greasy hair and skin but it felt great! Just do loads of facial saunas to get it moving out your skin quicker.
I reckon some foods may have an impact cus your skin is one of your bodies toxin eliminators so what I try to is like a lil detox every weekend...cutting out wheat, dairy, caffeine , sugar, salt, refined foods and drinking loads of water. It just gives your whole system including your skin a chance to breathe.

OK... so after two weeks, my skin is still breaking out, but starting to heal, I lost 6 pounds, but I'm still picking. It's almost as if the self control I need to avoid wheat, dairy and sugar takes up all my energy and I don't have any left to stop picking.... urggggh. I'm going to try harder next week, to see if my skin really will heal as I continue to detox and if there really is a skin food connection for me.
