Hey everyone, i just found this message board today, after looking at another board for people with acne. i had no idea this was a "condition" or that there were others out there who did this also. i used to spend a long, long time in front of a magnified mirror, a lamp RIGHT by my face, or better yet in the sunlight. i would pick and pick and poke with tweezers and a ballpoint pen. just trying to clear every pore, pop every zit. i am 24 now, and i have some minor scars from this picking, and my pores on my nose are larger than i imagine they would be if i had not picked so much.
one idea that i have might not really be a good one. instead of picking my face, i used tweezers to pluck the hairs out of my legs. it did'nt really hurt that much, and still gave me some sort of satisfaction. this was not harful to me either, as people get there legs waxed every day. that was just something i tried for a little while when i was younger.
i still pick occasionally, but not nearly as much as when i was a teenager. one prduct that has helped me is loreal's transformance. its an investment, about 15 dollars a bottle, but it makes your skin look flawless, and it feels silky and smooth. if i touch my face afer putting it on, it really does feel so smooth. those little bumps are hardly noticeable. i use it every day, faithfully, and my skin has gotten smoother and my pores have gotten smoother. maybe knowgin that you spent the money, and the hopes of better, smoother skin, might help a little. seriously, your skin will feel so smooth and look so nice after using this, and it is suppoed to help new, healthy skin grow. it is a reward for your skin.
maybe every time you feel like picking, you could apply more of the loreal transformance. try to help your skin rather than hurt it. also, try not to get sucked into the mirror so close. no one is going to look that closely at your skin. no one will ever see the tiny blemishes you see, so if that is what you are worried about, try to realize that no one will really see those things.
i hope everyone on here finds a way to get over this. i feel a lot better now, knowing i am not the only one. i hope my suggestion helped.
