;D Hey. YThis site will honestly help anyone who actually takes the time to read it. It mentions Prozack as a possible cure for face pickers out there. www.psychiatrictimes.com/p990568.html

Have you heard anything about the drug Luvox, since it is specifically FDA approved for obsessive compulsive behaviors. It is a much newer drug and unlike prozac which can be FDA approved for variety of conditions such as depression, eating disorders and ocd. It makes you think if it is the jack of all trades, but master of none.

Hi!
I took Luvox a few years ago and had some problems with it. They included increased anxiety, and hypervigilance. The withdrawal symptoms were also difficult to handle and mostly included a sort of out of body type of feeling when I was moving about. Kind of dizzy I guess. But, the reports are promising!

Good article, but must say I've been on Zoloft for three years and has never really helped my picking---I think it actually may have made it worse.....but who knows, maybe prozac is different? I'm too scared to switch though (have major depression)

I have been on MANY anti-depressants over the years including Prozac, Paxil, Serzone, Zoloft, Effexor and others and none have helped my picking. I currently take Celexa. I have dysthymia, basically chronic low-grade depression.

Luvox For Skin Picking www.selfinjuriousskinpicking.com Forum Index -> Product Talk View previous topic :: View next topic Author Message ferngurl Joined: 07 Sep 2004 Posts: 33 Posted: Mon Jan 03, 2005 2:30 pm Post subject: Luvox For Skin Picking -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been on many antidepressants for my anxiety, depression and skin picking. I was on effoxer and risperdal for anxiety and depression, and it has helped my skin picking a little, but my psychiatrist put me on luvox, which is known for helping ocd and repetitive behaviors. I can't believe how much my picking has decreased with luvox. Without any medicine I picked many times a day, it was pretty severe, but now adding the luvox to my effexor and risperdal, I find I'm going 4 or even 5 days without picking. I'm not checking the mirror every second to check my face, it's somewhat of a relief to actually see my face looking clear and healthy. I know medicines affect everyone differently, and what worked for someone might not work for another, but it is worth a shot to talk to your doctor about luvox and see what they think. I'm not saying that I am cured of picking, I'm far from it and still struggle with it, but my picking has decreased a lot. Anyone else on luvox or tried it? I don't really know about Luvox...
I've been on a variety of different anti-depressants, each with the promise of helping OCD, only to find my skin-picking to increase. It makes me so happy, that it makes me happy to pick, since it takes away the guilt.
