I was constantly picking at the skin on the back of my scalp. When i felt back there, i felt scabs, so i would pick at them. i would try to pick the big pieces off, but i ended up with small flakes of skin caught in my brown hair or on my shoulders. so then i would go to a mirror and remove the small flakes. i couldn't stop myself, it felt so good to feel and pick at the scabs. i'm sure it looked bad-i was constantly scratching my head. i was embarrased, but i couldn't stop. i thought i was creating the problem by never letting my skin heal. well, finally my husband made me go to the dermatologist. he said i have psoriasis which causes skin to grow more rapidly than normal. www.psoriasis.org/facts/psoriasis/I used Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo Extra Strength with 1% coal tar. you can buy that in any drugstore without a prescription. I also used a product the doctor prescribed: a topical solution called: Clobetasol Topical Solution USP .05%. Using those 2 products together made my skin go back to normal. it took about 2 weeks. So no more scabs means no more picking! yeah! Sometimes my hands go to my scalp and i feel around, but there are no bumps so i don't pick.
