I don't know if this will help anyone.
I'm pretty good at using makeup to hide my skin.
First, I prep my skin washing it with whatever product I'm using at the moment. Right now it's the Eau Thermale Avene line for acne-prone skin. Then comes toner. Then the moisturizer, Eau Thermale Avene Clean-Ac. I like this moisturizer since it keeps my face from getting shiny and keeps the make-up in place. Very cool product.
Then the foundation. I always invest in a good foundation, they really work wonders. A great foundation will be your sunscreen and shine-control as well as a great concealer and will let your skin breath. When you apply the foundation, make sure your fingers are clean! I always wash my hands after opening all my make-up tubes. With clean fingers, gently rub it onto your face in circles. If you went with the right skin tone, you won't have to rub it in under your neck. I pick a color lighter as my foundation so that it doubles as a concealer. Make sure to get it on your eyelids too. Let the foundation dry for two, three minutes. It should set.
(If there is too much redness, buy a green concealer to use before foundation. Dab the foundation over the green spots gently. I stress quality because the cheap stuff gets gunky and doesn't dissolve over the skin well.)
Then the concealer, dab it around a blemish instead of on directly on top of the blemish. Lighter colors stand out more, so use your foundation on a blemish to darken it. Then dab concealer around it to "flatten out" its appearance. Don't put too much on. Concealer also goes under the eyes. Make dots in an arc under your eye and rub those in. Too much makes your eyes look white. It's tricky and takes some practice to conceal under eyes. Also apply some concealer just below your eyebrow, it'll open your eyes up more. And apply it at the corner of your eyes as well. Neato tricks I learned.
Now your face has this matte texture. It's covered-up well but doesn't shine. I bought delicate shine powder. Very fine. Or in a very light liquid form. If applied to the apples of your cheeks and at the temples, it'll make your skin glow. Go for the good quality stuff that is very fine and doesn't look like glitter but just like a healthy glow. If it is in liquid form, be careful to use a little and to dab it on. It can upset the foundation. It also looks good when applied to the brow. Anywhere else on the face makes you look too shiny.
I've learned to do this in about 8 minutes. My fiance will see me walk around with medicine dotted all over my face and then when I walk out of the bathroom he's always surprised and says "your skin is so clear! wow!".
