Does anyone else have permanent scars on their body from picking? I have chest, back and legs scars from years of picking. They are slightly raised and white and round. They are worse on my chest. I am embarassed to wear things that show them and I am wondering if anyone shares this problem. Do people notice or comment on that, and do people think it is as repulsive as I do? Thanks.

I don't have raised bumps but I have these splotches of darker skin, like there's more pigment. The dermatologist said it would go away in a few years. I've had two light chemical peels. They really worked! But they since they had salicyc acid, it made my skin worse before better and I couldn't resist the urge to pick. So that kind of brought me back to where I was before the peels. I'm embarassed to show my back too(*sigh* no bathing suits, no cute tank tops or backless dresses) but yesterday I saw pictures of extremely severe acne and I felt that my scars or discolorations were nothing compared to the disfigurement of those people. And I'm self-inflicting these wounds! Getting better though!

I have them to. I'm really self conscious of them - but you know - I don't think people really notice them. Sometimes I put a little foundation on them and I think it helps.

Hello, Sometimes I think the scars look the worst to me. No one else is going to stand 6 inches away and stare at them like we do to ourselves. A little makeup may help. Good luck and stay away from the mirror. -sunshine-
