I just made myself a worry bracelet today and it is so wonderful! I read that in order to kick a habit you need to replace it and for a long time I carried silly putty around with me but the problem was it's not always on your body so I would get lazy about getting it out and pick. My new worry bracelet is just a piece of string tied to my wrist with a string of beads hanging off of it. The beads reach down to the end of my fingers and the string is only half full of beads so there is plenty of fidget room. I used beads that are large and interesting to touch, slide easily on the string and are unobtrusive so they'll match everything I wear. I tied them on so that I can't take them off so they are with me wherever I go. I can't wait to get another one for my other hand! It's only day one but I think I may be onto something. I still catch myself picking every once and a while but then I do a little ritual with the beads and by the time I'm done the urge to pick isn't as bad.

Thank you for posting this. I am pessimistic that it will work for me because I get urges that I cannot control even when I am busy...but I will try it and try to have a strong mind. I've been trying, but it's not working out. I like making jewelry stuff though, so I shall try your idea. Best of luck to you!!

Thanks for the idea, I have lots of beads because I love buying them, but i never use all of them. Does it get in the way when you are writing or typing? This is a great idea because I was just thinking, "if i can keep my hands busy, they will get tired and I don't feel like picking." I'm going to make one tonight (if i get all my studying done for my mid term). Thanks again. -sunshinekate-

Hi. I am new to the board. I was reading your post about the beads and was wondering if you could post a picture of the beads you made? They sound really cool and I would like to try them and see if I could make them for some relatives who are way too anxious to help them. Thanks . yru2crabby
