Hi...here's an alternative to picking with a similar sensation. When you have the urge to inspect or pick your skin run to your freezer and press an ice brick on the area instead. The benefit is it really gives you a relieved sensation and as the contact is made and the ice inside the brick melts it gives a pop or snapping sound. Keep pressing for a few seconds at a time. The result can even be an improvement to the look of your skin in the short term not to mention the long term improvement! Just keep a few of the bricks ready in the freezer. If you don't have one yet try a bag of frozen veg. Also don't forget to wear any kind of gloves as much as you can. Lathering on hand moisturiser first will give you a lovely skin treatment.

I bet the cold is great for our skin. Just think what refridgeration does to stop spoilage of food.
Don't leave ice on for more than 20 minutes at a time with direct contact, though. You don't want to cause frostbite.

Icing helps reduce the swelling around a zit. After you ice it, you should put on a product that has benzoyl peroxide on it - that helps clear the deep zits.
The benzoyl peroxide has a hard time getting to the pimple unless you reduce the swelling.
