my scars faded with time and I started aplying corticosteroid cream over the counter , and it seems to help.

be careful with corticosteroids... if the creme is strong enough, it will cause thinning of the skin as well as minute hair growth on the area of application.
it might not happen with over the counter products, but it does with prescription strength corticosteroids!!!

corticosteroids shouldn't be used long term or they'll cause the thinning of skin. i have two perscription corticosteroid creams for other problems and while it doesn't actually help the problem that it was perscribed for (because my doctor knows a whoooole lot about what's wrong with me and all...) it does heal my sores a lot quicker. it also gives you a reason to not touch them, if there is cream there, you don't want to touch because you don't want to get it in your mouth or your eyes or something. just don't use it long term, search the net for info about them if you're worried!
