I know what you mean. This happens to me too. Maybe your goals are too big. Try to make it the morning, maybe the next day morning and afternoon. I have found little goals work best. I also come to this site or knit whenever I want to pick. Hang in their and try to stay positive. You've done it before so you can do it again. Don't be so hard on yourself because we're all in it together. ~sun

reflection, i can relate to you so much, a few months ago, I was doing very well, but then I entered a rut, and my fingers were horrendous. I just could not stop, I kept "falling." However, I am starting to rise up again. We have our good days and our bad days when trying to stop; you are just in a period of bad days. But, it will improve. And even though once you improve it can worsen again, you will proceed with more knowledge and yearning to stop the next time. Just give yourself time, and remember that we are here for you.

Reflection:
What you described is exactly why most of us have been with this habit for so long. The pattern of wanting to quit, then saying "what the hell, I'll just pick a little," then saying "well, I just picked yesterday, so what the hell, I'll just pick a little." And the next thing ya know, you've gone for years and years of picking. It's the same for smoking, drinking, drugs, anything that's an addictive behavior. As long as you feel it's doing something for you, like stress relief or whatever, the behavior will keep up. But once you realize that it's not something you want as part of your life, it'll become easier, but only with time. Lots and lots of time. So break it down in minutes, hours, days, then weeks. And try to be easier on yourself, because feeling bad makes you want to cope with your bad feelings, then you pick, then you feel bad, and on and on it goes. Just keep posting. I know I can't wait to read new posts, and this site only keeps going as long as we are struggling. We are all helping each other.
