Just wondering...how is everyone paying for therapy? I want to see a cognitive behavioral therapist in NYC, but they're so expensive! My insurance doesn't cover much for out-of-network mental health - and there are no OCD specialists in my PPO. I don't want to go into debt, but this problem is taking over my life.

Thanks for the info, Glamourpuss15!
Just wondering...a lot of these places seem to be generalized mental health clinics...were you able to see someone that was trained in cognitive behavioral therapy or who had experience with skin pickers?

At the time, I didn't realize that my skin-picking was a problem...I had just started. My main problem is that I was having panic attacks frequently. (A combination of work, stressful roommate and evil boyfriend!)
I moved to NC shortly thereafter...so I only had a few visits. Anything on a budget isn't going to be super-specialized. WHat I would suggest is to research CSP yourself...gather as much info as possible, make an appointment to see someone and take the info to share with them to help them understand. I realize that may not be something you are interested in, but it's a start.
I just know that the medical system is totally backwards here...especially when it comes to mental health. My mom tried to get Medicaid because she is bi-polar, but she was denied because being bi-polar is a "designer disease". How ridiculous is that?
