are you all talking about scars or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (red spots)? hydroquinone is good for PIH.

I do not understand why all of you keep saying to use it three times a day, that is NOT what the directions ssy. I have a tube in my hand right now, it says, and I quote directly off the tube:
"Mederma advanced scar gel should be evenly applied and gentle rubbed into the scar once a day for 8 wks on new scars, and once a day for 3-6 months on existing scars."
I picked the gel because the surgeon said it seemed faster than the creams. ( veterans.....the VA WILL supply it if you use Veterans choice and a civilian doc tells you to use it, even if not prescribed, so long as the doctor told you to use it) You should never over use any product, follow the directions. If you can't use this use raw Shea butter in the morin g and raw coconut oil at night. I have done that for all previous scars, shea butter works 100 times better than coco butter.
I am only using this, this time because I had never tried it. But since it takes up to ten to get VA meds I used the raw Shea butter and raw coconut oil the first 6 days. My scar scan was already almost gone and the skin smoother and lighter before I got the mederma. It does peel though, so I use the Madera at night and shea butter in the morning.
