Hey everyone, I recently got acrylic nails for prom and have found that it is much harder to pick w/ them. They are thick making it almost impossible to pick - sometimes I will find something else to use but I am seeing some results from this, I think I will keep them on. I have also found the tape method very helpful.

I read on a different site about this girl who would use scotch tape on her face instead of picking. When you peel it off it smooths out your skin and you can see the flakes on the tape. and then when you go to bed you can put jojoba oil on your face to moisturize ( it takes a while to soak in and theres stuff on your face to stop you from picking and it wont make you break out) It also helps with scars - i have been doing this for a month and it seems to be working, my scars are less and your skin is smooth so theres not much to pick at. Heres a site about it acne.org/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=1320:hope it helps you

the tape method works well. i've been doing it for a month - it is so so for scars but works really well for exfoliating - so i get a lot less of those little annoyong bumps. the jojoba oil is nice too - won't break you out.

I have tried the "liquid bandaid." (by Johnson and Johnson) It has been a life saver for me! It protects your fingers from infection but it also allows the skin to breathe so it heals faster. It does not sting when you apply. (all the other liquid bandaids sting) It really speeds up the healing process. It dries clear-looks almost like you have on clear nail polish. And you don't have to wear those annoying bandaids. Another tip-at night I use the Johnson and Johnson antibacterial ointment bandaids. I put them on every finger. It really keeps the cuticles and fingertips moist. If you can't get that particular bandaid try using neosporin on a regular bandaid. I just find the J&J brand much easier and it works better. Another tip-if you have scabs on your legs or arms use the circle bandaids for sensitive skin by curad. I found that most bandaids cause those little bumps-then I pick at those. The curad bandaids work great. They also blend into your skin real well and they are not annoying. GOOD LUCK!!!!
