I am 25 years of age now and as a teenager never had a pimple, but a slow compulsive picking disorder starting at 20 has givin me many scars five years later.
I have tried everything from RX to anything in a store that said it could help with acne. I have spent way way to much. To me it comes down to less is more. The fewer products you use, with the fewest ingredients in the products (by that I mean natural, simple and don't forget non-comegenic and ph balanced) and even tho you may feel like piling on the products(because maybe just maybe ill have good skin sooner ) [glow=red,2,300]only use a small amount[/glow].
Your skin is amazingly sensitive. That is a very important word to get in your head when you think of your skin SENSITIVE. Don't touch it, don't pick it, don't cover it with product ingredients that are foreign and while your at it stop thinking about your skin. You need to get a regimen and stay consistent. A simple regimen. Heres what worked for me:
1. Hardly ever wore makeup. If I did only on the red/scar spots.
2. Washed my face twice a day, morning & night with Burt's bees orange citrus cleaner<i like it it.. ph balanced and not to abrasive>I always dabbed my face dry and never wiped/tugged at my skin (for fear of inflammation which=acne).
2morning. In the morning I put on: A thin layer of Clindamycin Phosphate Gel 1% a RX. Which is an antibiotic topical gel... kills bad bacteria in pores.
2evening. Applied a super thin amount of generic tretenoin gel (retin-a) for me .025% works when applied every other day at night, 30 minutes after washing my face (when i wash my face i barely even touch it). Any higher percentage and I turn into a lizard and shed (no this is not the way to "shed" scars!). Shedding skin that rapidly makes me want to pick more all in all bad news for me.
My skin rocks now. Still have small scars that will never go away ever. But at least there is nothing new comin in (=nothin to pick). I go out of my house and feel confident finally.
PS. Now I just have to work on not picking my lip.
