Hi, is there another arm picker (or thigh chest, back, butt) who has keratosis pilaris, those annoying little bumpy bitches that are all over your body?
If there is, would someone possibly want to be my ZT partner and overcome this with me? I have all these fucking dotted scars all over my fucking body from my picking all these years. Tonight I had my wort picking session of my life and am extremely depressed.
If theres someone out there, please respond. I need you.

Hi Poi, I have KP too. It's infuriating that my body keeps making stuff for me to pick. Even if I leave it along, it looks terrible. Oddly, I don't mind bumps on my husband's arms or upper back. They aren't bad but there are some there.
I started when I was 13. I thought at first it was because I bought some baby oil and used it to moisturize (there were some ads on TV) my arms and legs. I think if I had stopped back then it wouldn't have become what is now. Now it is this major part of my life and I hate it.
Knowing what it is doesn't help either because no matter what the cause, I know if I pop them it will pop and damn if I don't get something out of doing it.
But I'm stopping. Now. I'm casting about for some substitute activity, something I can run to when the urge gets me. I can post here, and I'll try that, checking in with people and all. I found out about this site over a year ago, but didn't do much with it. Now it's bookmarked.
How long have you had KP? Do you use anything on it? I found salicylic acid stuff kept the bumps down.

what the F!!!!! DAMN THOSE BUMPS!!! {lots of swearing } I have those arm bumps, too. I thought it was just arms till a stupid derm asked me if I had it on my thighs, too. what an ass.. so I've been picking my arms since I was 8, and now my legs, too. hate it more than anything. what is this KP thing??? who told you guys about that name for it?? I've been told there's no way to get rid of it. a lot of people actually seem to have it, but not a lot csp on it, I guess =( some dumb ass derm also once told me to use baby oil on it and take vitamin e pills. he was completely clueless. he might have been a vet for all he knew about skin. I shave my arms and scrub them w/ shower gloves. this helps some. don't shave off scabs, ok? I'm looking into finding some good bleacher cream for this, too. I wish I could choose someone off the street and completely trade skins w/ them... I'd take random ugly tattoos. I don't care. but not this arm crap which isn't even consiered real zits. darn. thanks for letting me vent. please keep posting if you hear of any cure. maybe it can be burned away with some powerful laser!!!!!!!!

I totally know where you are coming from. The bumps are more frustrating that anything else in the world (to me). The fact that they have stuff in them just makes it all the worse.
Anyway, I use Neutrogena SA stuff. Just about everything they have has 2%. Be aware though that it brings the bumps to the surface -- which means they are more pickable than ever but if you don't (and I gotta say this is a HUGE struggle for me, but I seem to be doing well going forward) they will actually go away.
Not all of them. Skin has a cycle of growth and it varies for every little hair. So while some bumps finally come out on their own .. new ones form (thanks skin!).
I guess this isn't too helpful, sorry! I'm working on quitting. The picking is something I have done for so long, it will take a while to break the habit and I'll always have it as something I need to be aware of -- a tendency to pick my arms.
If you have a lot of scarring, a chemical peel on your arms can work wonders (2 back to back helps). The bumps will ALL return, I can tell you with certainty, but at least the skin looks sorta normal and I can keep the bumps down to a small number with SA.
