I was thinking the same thing. Maybe that is my last resort. THe only problem is hypnotists don't know about these compulsions, so how would they know what to say to get us to stop?
Maybe there is some type of accupuncture available to get us to stop. MY one friend goes to a chinese medicine lady and I wonder if she could help. I guess if you believe in anything enough it can work. The mind is the strongest part of a human being but in my life it feels like picking is the strongest thing.

In the itty bitty town where I am from, there is an accupuncturist. I am contemplating going to him. I wonder if accupressure or any other alternative methods have any success....by the way. I weaned myself off my Paxil and my husband is begging me to go back on...I am starting to feel a bit out of control...not so much with picking...but I am having some other really strange ocd things that are rearing their ugly, ugly head...I am so frustrated.

Hmm, Tam
I would try to stay off the drug, in the long run it may be healthier for you. I know it is difficult. and the initial withdrawal is tuff. I hope your hubby can bear with you. I hope you feel better. At least the picking isn't that strong anymore. So how does your husband handle the fact of you picking? How long has he known of this? i was just curious.

I think he was playing dumb or was in denial (married 12 yrs) and I "came out" just 3 mos. ago It makes him very sad, but he remains very supportive. Sometimes he is a bit scolding when he catchs me...but I think he is just trying to figure out the best way to discourage it. He is the best hubby around and everyone at work tells me so....Really supportive and positive. I think he is just worried because I get kind of obsessed about some strange things when I am off the Paxil--almost a bit paranoid...anyway I am going to try to lay off it and try other alternative things....
