I'm at a low point right now...
Tonight I picked at my skin until it bled, and now I have an area on my face that is raw from the top layer being scratched away.... My face is red and angry looking... And the worse part, I have no make up to cover it with that wont make me break out in a few days... It seems that every single product i've tried makes me break out... And I've tried lots.... and spent hundreds of dollars on junk :/. I'm tired of the endless cycle of buying products that claim to be "oil free" or "noncomedogenic", and then a few days later I suddenly have 5 new spots...

Sorry about your low. I use make-up with salicylic acid in it (which reduces inflamation). But then if the make-up is part of the problem maybe it's better not to try it. Aloe gel is cheap and clear and seems to work pretty well to help heal for me, but of course it won't cover anything up.

I also use products with salicylic acid (Neutrogena is great). An important thing to remember is that make-up is probably only part of the problem. When we pick we cause more breakouts. So, while make-up contributes, I'm sure we cause a lot of our own breakouts.
I know you are probably feeling pretty horrible right now. I remember that when I used to pick really bad I would not be able to sleep at night. I would just be so depressed and afraid of facing the day. But I pulled through, and so will you. I took control of my habit. If I can do it anyone can. Remember your not alone. Stay strong

Hi I have just had a mass picking session and now im annoyed at myself. I'm so used to it now its part of who I am! I have been single for 5 years due to me hating my skin! Anyway has anyone tried johnsons holiday skin lotion? I find this works really well as it gradually gives your skin a tan and a radiant glow that helps fade scars and makes me feel better about my skin so i dont want to attack it as much. This is my latest cover up give it a try! Stacie

There is no amount of make-up I could use to cover my face. More than acne I can't stand to see a scab with concealer over it. I haven't worn make-up in a couple of years. Instead now I'm trying to find natural remedies/other alternatives (I know it's not that self made acne thats the problem, but that I refuse to leave it alone). I just bought one of those micro dermabrasion kits for at home and look forward to trying it. I've been to dermatologists years ago, since then my face has gotten alot worse, and I'm scared to go back. Not embarassed, SCARED. I've had doctors (regular check-up) who have laughed at my scars and marks, and I over heard one telling another nurse about them. I understand their people too and the sight is a new on for most. But is anyone else affraid to go to doctors for letting them see your body?

I need to get the courage to tell my Dr. about my scalp picking, it's embarrassing that I cannot control it.

You know, I just became aware that there are other people like me who pick their face. I was shocked. I've thought its just been a 'will power' thing but as it turns out it looks pretty likely that I have ocd or a mood disorder. Anyway, I got to a therapist and I am really nervous about telling her about it. I mean, it seems like it woud be obvious to everyone but talking about it feels very scary.

Far more people deal with issue, in fact most of the skin issues seen by plastic surgens are due to this. Dee
