I finally broke down and decided to try starting a new board, since no one who posts here has any kind of moderator control. I looked around at a couple other hosting sites (I needed to do free) but in the end decided to go with this very same service because the interface works fine. It's located at: skinpicking.proboards77.com/index.cgiThe only thing is that I can't promise that registering new members isn't going to screw up like this one, so I hope some people will try it and give some feedback. (If it doesn't work, well I guess there's more shopping around to do. Part of the lure was not having to host on my paid service and that guests can post, though). The new board is going to focus on a positive outlook toward recovering from skin picking and I decided to call it a recovery board, hoping that those who consider themselves to be recovering will post there (or course, anyone can post). Anyway, go forth and post! And please please please let me know if you tried to register and couldn't.

Well, there are some members signed up for the new board and so registration seems to be working. It'll be good for new members to be able to post. Feel free to make posts whenever just as y'all would on this board. It's really for everyone to have a place to talk (new people included).

I have made a decision to abstain 100% from picking, scratching, squeezing, obsessing over my skin from this moment forward, just for today, with the help of my Higher Power and this support online. My life has become unmanageable with this skin thing. I want to get out of my own way. Thank you for being there! I would love to hear recovery stories - how long have you been abstinent? Are you 100% abstinent? How do you define abstinence or recovery? How do you get through a breakout? From Vancouver Island, Canada ODAT

A few days ago I was searching for 'treatment for compulsive face picking' on the internet when I ran across this forum. I was struggling with this disorder since the onset of acne like many of you and with the support of this website, I have been pick free for several days. My face has never been this clear in my life and I'd just like to thank you all for sharing your stories with me. I found it extremely helpful to identify with others suffering from the same thoughts and habits. I have been doing ProActive for a while now and recently started using "Bye Bye Blemish" upon recommendation from this forum. The first day was the hardest because the red marks were still apparent but after just 3 days my face has cleared up completely. I used to pick before I went to bed in hopes that the damage I found in the morning was able to be covered by carefully applying make up. I now look forward to going to bed each night without touching my face so that I can wake up to see how amazing my face looks without the make up. Today was the first day in several years that I was able to leave the house without applying cover up. I hope that anyone who reads this post will gain a glimpse of hope for their own future. The first step to recovery is BELIEVING that you can resists the urges and temptations. Take it one day at a time and once your acne begins to improve, you won't want to mess it up again! Good luck and best wishes this holiday season.

Hi there! Cece here, new to this board--but certainly NOT new to skin picking. I have more than 17 years doing it. After a couple of months of being able to stay off my face (with the help of 3 different types of meds + 2 types of acne prescriptions) I had a horrible "relapse". So I am back to looking like a monster. I hate this! I started with a clear face and walked out of the bathroom an hour or so later like you would not believe. This is not the only self-destructive behavior that I engage in but its one of the worst ones because you have to deal with it in isolation (most people are grossed out by it or simply don't understand). Anyone else struggling?
