Sorry for the long post
First of all remember we have just miss-programmed our grooming urge and we can change it. There will be up’s and down’s but if we change our environment and programming it can be done.
Here are some things that work for me:
• Use fresh Aloe Vera gel to clean your face and you don’t need to look in a mirror to do that. Still trying to remove all of my mirrors.
• Figure out something else to do with your hands, crocheting, whittling, tying knots, play with beads.
• Different types Eczema treatments seem to help but I don’t think I have it.
• Any type Exercise to use up my excess energy, I like swimming, walking, yoga and rowing.
• Meditation is helpful, journaling and dream interpretation
• Working or playing on the computer
• Crafts and hobbies particularly ones that use your hands
• Sometimes if you just press down with your nail on the scabs to relief the pressure helps but don’t let yourself pick.
• I don’t pick when I am on the phone.
• If you like pets pet an animal
• Garden in the yard or in pots
• Play a musical instrument or learn, sing or whistle, listen to good music.
• Reading can give you something to do
• My worse time is when I am tired stressed and watching TV.
• Eat popcorn very slowly one kernel at a time feeling each dimension of it with your tongue and eat each lump off one at a time. Try not to each trans fatty acid popcorn. You can pop popcorn in olive oil. But unfortunately I like seasoning salt on it.
• Peel a grape in your mouth
• Ceregen massage beds, unlimited free 40 min massage.
www.ceragem.com/• Play old fashioned solitaire or other games.
• If you start picking take a leisurely bath.
• We have to change our habits by finding something else to do during our danger times.
• Write a letter about what has stressed you out, and then rip it up. If you want to send it, keep it for several days and review it when you are happy before you send it.
• Admit you have a problem when you are ready to a good friend and ask them to help you.
• Talk to your doctor if you have a good one, if you don’t find one.
• Scratch with an ice cube
• Keep nails super clean; they harbor lots of germs that you can transfer to your skin. Using a nail brush before you pick can change your cycle.
• Write positive statements plus goals and post them by mirrors and your nail brush.
• Try to throw out your magnifying mirror and never buy one.
• Mosquito bites often start scabs for me, very important to scratch with an ice cube. Wear bug guard. A few drop of eucalyptus oil in your fabric softener makes clothing less attractive to bugs. Avoid dark colors and strong perfumes.
Reducing scalp picking tips:
• All of the above
• Nuregena T-Gel shampoo helps me.
• Use fresh Aloe Vera gel on it at night if you are not going out, it’s like weird hair gel
• If you start picking go and wash your hair or start doing something with your hands.
• Scalpicin helps me

Many of us have addictive behavior so we must keep our guard up at all times and not develop new bad habits. So we can always slip when things get our of hand but we can get a handle on it again.
