Well I have found another obsessive routine to follow other than picking my face. The other day I was watching some health program on tv that said refined/processed sugar is bad for you. The program said it is basically an addictive drug and it is in almost everything we eat. So I started thinking about it and basically everything I eat contains sugar (cereal, yogurt, pasta sauce, ice cream, white bread, etc). So I have now decided to completely take anything that contains sugar out of my diet and only eat food with natural sugar (like fruits and vegetables). Well its day 4 and I have a horrible pounding headache and feel like crap; I think I am in withdrawl. I have also been researching online about the effects off sugar on the body, it can cause depression, emotional imbalance, PMS...etc. So here I am thinking that this may cure me. Its like all the products I have bought that I thought would fix my 'acne' when really I dont have much, its the picking thats the problem. Im so sick of my obsessive tendencies, but at least this one is actually good for my body. Just thought I would share, I will let you guys if it does anything.

Hi! I am going through the exact same thing. Like you, I have an addicitive personality. In the past, I have binged on a whole gallon container of ice cream, only to follow up with an hour long pick session, followed by three hours of exercise. I love sugary carbs: its all I eat and without them I am grumpy I just got finished reading a great book that talks about the effects of refined sugar and white flour. It scared me into trying to detox this sugar habit (diabetes runs in my family). I am only on day one and its already difficult but I am determined. Please keep us all informed about how you are doing and I'll do the same. Hugs

It's good to hear im not doing this alone. I am still sugar free and I have to say it has been easier then I thought. I have lost a couple pounds (not that I needed to or intended on it) and my skin is looking better then usual and I feel really healthy and full of energy. I think my obsessive nature is actually helping me stay off of sugar because im so obsessed about doing it. Diabetes also runs in my family and im hoping this will help lessen my chance of getting it. I have to admit I really miss ice cream! Hope your doing good.

Hey, that's great that you've found something to help your body, although I would like to point out that although people think "natural sugars" are better for us, sugars are really all the same when it comes to our bodies. That being said, things with natural sugars in them tend to be healthier for us in the first place, so keep going! We all need a little sugar in our diets. There is definitely a link for many people between refined carbs/sugar and mood/behavior, hope it helps you feel better!
