I'm a new member and so relieved that a message board like this exists! I'm 26 and have been picking for probably about five years. Had acne as a teen but strangely enough didn't pick. Like I never even thought of it or something... Anyway, I had been really good for these past two weeks and was so proud of myself for leaving bumps and blackheads alone and just applying benzoyl peroxide, but yesterday right after I woke up I went to the bathroom and proceeded to go nuts on my forehead. So now I've got three of those Advanced Healing Band-Aids right in the center, from eyebrows to hairline. Very attractive. And I'm pretending to have food poisoning to my boss (over the phone, natch) so now I've missed two days of work. So but all that stuff aside I guess I'm just looking for practical advice on whether leaving these bad boys on for like four days total (til I have to go back to work) will do me more harm than good. I mean, should I take them off and apply neosporin and/or aloe or what? It's sort of helpful to just see these white puffy bandages instead of huge ugly wounds. At the same time it's like I *really need* to see what's going on under there. I tied a bandana on my head pirate-style in order to take the dog out, but now I'm sequestered here in my bedroom... Oh well if nothing else maybe these crazy Band-Aids (and skipping work) will show my therapist tomorrow just how much of a problem this is for me...

Those band aids have saved me. Leave them on as long as possible, and the spot will be healed when you take them off. They are designedto be left on and take the place of a scab, without leaving so much scar tissue because the wound stays so moist. Do yourself a favor, leave them on, plus they're expensive. Try the store brand at CVS. They come in more sizes, are cheaper, and don't have the middle colored white like the band aids. When you first put them on before they get puffy you can hardly notice them.

whatss up well one thing that has been working for me:
well at the beginning when the wound is still fresh, with mucho pus...i use non stick bandaid from any store. the wound has to remain moist. so u can use some neosporin.
after like a week...when less pus. i use dudoerm signal..it is a hydrocolloid..its great for helping the wound close
also its good to keep the duoderm signal stuff on after the wound is closed. like at night. its great for not letting the scar look to bad.
