So I've tried everything for years and years. I've picked at my face since I was 12. I pick at things that "aren't there" but I can see them. If there is a pore with something in it, I can find it and am grossed out until it is out. I've tried psych work, I've tried proactiv, I've tried pills... I've tried I've tried I've tried. Nothing has worked.... until now.
I convinced a Dr. to put me on Accutane. I hadn't been able to get on it before because I'd go to someone and they would say I didn't have acne and it was just me picking at myself that was causing the problem. So... I got on the stuff. I don't have insurance and its costing me a large fortune to afford it, but I don't care at this point. At first I was scared because it dried my skin up, but there was still stuff in the pores and I felt like I was almost picking mroe to get these hard blackhead things out. I thought "oh no! maybe "regular" people think this is good enough!" No... it took about two months. After the two month point... theres just about nothing. I've now gone from picking at my face many times a day everyday for years to going 4 days without even touching it. For me, thats huge. And I don't have to be on it forever, just for about 5 months. So, in short. Its the only thing that works because it makes it so there's nothing there to pick at. I read it on another board and now I want to say it here. Because its the only thing that works if you're intense like I was.

I used to go to the dermatologist and was on retin-a-micro, I stuck with it for like a year and saw no change in my skin, plus my skin was all red and peeling from it and it never went away, he said if I wanted to I could go on accutane, than it kind of occured to me that this guy was a a**hole and was just prescribing anything when I clearly didn't have serious acne, I just picked. I wouldn't go on accuatne for the reason that it dries out your skin a lot and if I got that sensetive of a reaction from retin-a, it's not gonna be any better on that. Glad it works for u though.

I had a very hard time on Accutane. Everyone is different, so it may not bother you as much as it did me. I couldn't take the dryness, especially to my mouth and the area around it. It was horribly irritating. My lips burned and my skin around my mouth was always dry and flaking. I had to quit.
