Ok this is going to be very embarassing to tell, especially since Im new here. But I figure I might as well get it out as it might help someone else.

So here's the story. 25, mostly face picker although misquito bites on my legs can get pretty ugly and stay forever. Also around bikini area though I would NEVER wear a bikini.

I have two kids. Right after this last baby I was noticing my breasts a lot more- I have now successfully breastfed my two babies a year each. ;D Well this second time around I noticed that I had a lot of body fuz on my breasts. Your typical light body hair I thought untill something made me look closer (guess its the picker in me). I have blond hair and I saw all these little almost transparent white hairs all over my breasts. Not just one to a follicle, but more up to 7 or more! PER FOLLICLE.

They were so incredibly fine it is unbelieveable.
Immediatly the tweezers sprang to action and jumped into my fingers!

Does anyone else have this or am I weird? I only find it good for the ocaisional plucking-i dont think im a hairpuller, and you have to wait for the hair to grow back obviously. Its sorta on the lines of that irritating hair that grows in the middle of a mole. I thought - I cant believe Im doing this! What if it gets dark and thick all over the place??!!

That has helped me stay away from it so it is only occaisionally now, but was very intense in the begining. Does anyone else do this?

Not at all weird, and you have no need to be embarrassed here. I'm sure those of us who can't relate can at least understand

I have a go at the couple of dark hairs that come out of my breasts and I used to be a lot worse on my pores come to think of it. I don't really pull hairs but it's a bonus if one comes out.

I will sometimes get caught up on the white, hair-plugs that are in my stretch marks on me stomach and pull them out with my fingers or tweezers, though.

I think hairpulling and skin-picking are very closely related as we tend to all describe the same sensations and some people have both tendencies, so, don't go worrying about the names, the diagnosis, whatever, just concentrate on improving a little at a time.

I have the very same obsession- I think when your breasts grow large in a short span of time, it can stretch the skin (such as during puberty or during breast feeding, weight gain etc) and thus it becomes more noticeable for us because the skin is thinner and perhaps the creation of stretch marks has something to do with it. Hard to say? But i have the very same thing, and it's become a trigger, so I do my best not to pick there or look

Mine too are baby-fine and the only person who would ever notice them, is me of course lol. I am also triggered by the natural bumps (they secrete a moisturizing and bacterial protecting substance for the breasts and nipples) near the nipple. When there is nothing else to "pick" I will sometimes be drawn to pick those, and it's embarassing yet- but true. You are not alone

I can confirm that I do not have trichotillomania. I am a diagnosed OCD - specific to SP rated moderate/severe. I have been diagnosed by more than one psychiatrist and referred to therapists for this problem. Thus, perhaps it is more as someone mentioned in another thread- the two conditions can perhaps overlap somewhat. However, I think it is important to point out that they can also be very much distinct from one another also.

The "items" in question, which the poster has described are infact, "real" rather than delusion (i.e. "dirty pore" or "imagined blemish") They are harmless, and lots of women have them (probably men too for that matter) I think (and correct me poster if I am wrong) she was expressing her frustration that for the moment, these are simply another thing to "pick at" and I completely identify with her frustrations, because they are for me also.

For a severe SP- nearly ANYTHING on the skin can be a trigger, including freckles, moles, age spots- you name it- and clogged hair follicles & ingrown hairs esp are no exception. This does not however, make a SP'er a Trich. *shrug* I just thought your response came across C, as somewhat snippy & I know I personally don't appreciate being categorized, esp by anyone other than a legitimate psychiatrist

Lorieann- I didnt' mean to say that Trich is weird- but was wondering if the body hair was weird. I have never heard of follicles producing so many hairs. I hope I havent offended- I wasnt trying to come off as snippy or calling names. Sorry!

hi, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.
I just wanted to say that I also pick my breasts. it's not so much the little hairs that bother me (it is perfectly normal to have lots of fine hairs on your breasts, don't worry!)...but the pores on my breasts are large and I get blackheads their a lot because of it. I find myself spending hours locked in the bathroom picking the acne on my face and breasts untill my skin in swollen and bleeding. I also sometimes will squeese and pinch the skin around the hairs as if they are blackheads or something though.

I completly agree. When I was seven years old I started pulling out my own hair untill my mother noticed my bald patches...so I immediatly swapped to things like nail and cheek biting and picking the skin on my outer-ears so that she wouldn't know. When I started getting acne is when I started to attack my face though.
