Hi Guys, I thought I would tell everyone what has worked for me. I tried hypnotherapy and although very expensive I went 3 times and you know what!?, I stopped picking for 2 weeks my skin healed up and had a new glow to it all my friends said how nice my skin looked and I felt an inner happiness that I only ever get when I have a non picking week or I am on holiday when my tan covers and heals! I heard that hypno works for a while then you retract back as your subconcious mind needs training and when you miss your training the habit returns now I lost my job and stopped going alas my picking has returned and I've made a right mess of my face back and thighs! On a positive not tho If you have the money try it it worked for me and to know for a few weeks I liked my skin felt amazing! I will be returning as Its the only thing that worked! Goodluck if anyone decides to try it. I am from the UK and each session cost £40 for an hour! Hope this helps

Hi Lara
I am from cambridgeshire anywhere near you? I think any hypnotherapist does the same and prob charges the same prices. I would look into it even for a trial run, The lady said I would need to go a few times but didn't want me to rely on it! We need to train our subconcious mind it is just very difficult to train it tends to wander of whilst were thinking or doing something else, our sub mind can make us do things we arn't in control of!! You will be asked to close your eyes and she will talk to you for about half hour when she brings you back you feel like you've been asleep and feel very relaxed. When I drove home ( my worst picking time in car!) I went to pick my back and NO JOKE my hand shot down everytime I went to pick my hand was forced downward! It was really weird but GREAT! Goodluck let me know if you go for it and if you wanna chat on here send me a message!

That sounds pretty cool. Was checking out prices in my area (Edinburgh) and they seem about the same.Im pretty skint right now, but I reckon its something I might save up for. Its the mindless picking thats the worst - not realising that Im even doing it. I heard about a drug - vitamin B inositol www.homestead.com/westsuffolkpsych/SkinPicking.htmlThats link to some info... was thinking about asking at my local healthfood place, or the doctor. Ever heard of it yourself? Lara

Hi Lara No I havent heard of that. I used to take B6 once for nerves and anxiety but doctors took it of the market at the time. What is your area to pick? Its good to talk to someone else who does it I always thought I was on my own with it. I have done it since I was little and now im 28 and worse than ever! I am an anxious person which doesnt help matters! I have tried everything on the market drug wise I have had light treatment tried makeups gloves fake tan to no avail! Hope to hear back from you Stacie

Well, I used to pick pretty much everywhere as a teen. My worst areas then where my arms, back chest and face. I have improved alot, and actually managed to stop picking my back and arms for a while, and reduce everywhere else, but recently my back is looking bad, and I have a few on my arms now too. I guess these last couple of months Ive been kinda anxious and a bit down, which really doesn't help my will to stop! I know what you mean about realiseing you arn't alone - its like a lightbulb going off in your head! Ive tried going to a psycologist, but I didnt find it that useful. Ive been thinking about going back to the doctor lately though, as much as I hate to. Im just fed up with this thing consuming my free time and dictating what I wear etc. - Lara

Hi Im doing it as we speak I'm sure I'm worse when my period is coming up! My face and back are a real mess and the newest addition is my outer thighs where I get little bumps I dig and dig and now have lovely scars! I also cant wear any nice things it really depresses me in the summer! I even grow my hair long to cover my back so i can wear a bikini then get all hot and cant wear it up its horrendously time consuming I can never relax! Now my thighs are ugly I cant wear a bikini anyway! My only cure is going on hol with my parents for 2 weeks by the second week my scars are almost covered with a lush tan, this is my happiest skin time but rare as when it wears off I start again! GRRRRR vicious circle. Hope to share some picking disasters soon!

Picking disasters eh? Ive had loads of those. Most recently was a tiny spot I picked between my eyes. It was deep rooted, one of those ones that have a sore pressure to theme that you know you can relieve if you can just get to it. Well I picked and picked and gouged with tweezers. My face was so swollen the next morning I looked like someone else. My eyes where so puffy and the bridge of my nose was huge! I still have the scar, and photos to remind me not to do that again! I know what you mean about holidays making it better. I went with some friends this year ( they all know i pick) and it felt so good to have nice skin. But it doesnt last... My face is actually looking ok right now (with make up) Only two obvious picked places that are healing well right now. Ive not been trying lately coz Ive been down, but Ive been feeling more positive now, and it really makes a difference. I think Im gonna go have a bath now, it really helps but i dont have time to do it often enough. Try adding a little sea salt - helps dry up infection! Lara

Well I find baths irritate my skin more as I find it dries it up and makes it itch like hell leading to wandering fingers!!! My skin is better with showers and sensitive everything face wash soap showergel! I always feel like I cant live in my skin like its uncomfy and itchy and needs to be ripped to bits! I found another thing my skin liked tho Johnsons holiday skin lotion. I use it on my face and body and as it gradually gives you a tan it seems to add a nice glow as well making me think my skin looks nice and stops me from wanting to destroy it. I used to live in St Tropez tan but that gave me mega boil bumps so I gave up on it ( Im gonna go have a shower and look in the mirror see what damage Ive done today!!! stacie

I am back on Anafranil because it was the ONLY thing that worked for me 4 years ago. Went off to have baby. It is amazing!!! I am so happy to be free of picking. It has side effects I can tolerate but it is truely a cure.
