hello, lately i've been thinking about getting a chemical peel to reduce some light scarring on my face (a little redness and blotchiness) although i still do some picking occasionally (once every 1 or 2 weeks or so) i think it will do wonders for my self esteem (i'm fantasizing about not having to wear makeup) i never thought i would get to where i am now so i feel like this would be a reward for how far i've come. i was wondering if anyone had any experiences/input to help me make an educated decision.
anything you can contribute would be great

I don't have any education on this topic, but I have thought about it too. Some scars will just not go away! I don't want to get it until I can stop picking more, but I would ask a doctor in your area. Insurance probably won't cover it because it's cosmetic. Let us know if you talk to a doctor. -sunshine-

It's worked wonders for me. I had my upper arms peeled in February and have been wearing sleeveless shirts with no regrets. It's still hard not to pick. I had this done about 4-5 years ago and starting picking again. I won't do that this time. I feel like I 'got my skin back'. It isn't perfect (especially if you look really really closely under a bright light ) but I try very hard not to do that! You can't get rid of every scar. There is one area the dermatologist just didn't peel much. Of course, that's an area with more scarring. It isn't the best looking. Still since I'm not picking, mild color variations aren't very noticeable. I don't notice people looking hard at my skin, like they see something, you know? When I would wear makeup (yes, on my upper arms), people could still tell something was different and I can see them looking. Ugh. Anyway, I recommend a peel. You can also have two lower strength ones back to back (they tend to be less expensive). Once the redness has gone done, bam, hit the skin with another peel. It can help deeper scars. Generally one peel makes such a huge difference though. stilltrying

I just started seeing a new dermatologist who recommended that I get mild acne peels once a month. I have gotten 2 so far. I'm not sure if it helps with scarring, but it helps remove dead skin and that helps keep your pores unclogged. In turn, that helps with picking. You might want to try it.
Does anyone find that facials help?
