So yeah, Summer is here, im pale as all hell so all my scars and marks from picking are EVERYWHERE on my legs, bikini line, chest and some on arms and hands. So while everyone is going around in shorts and llow cut tank tops and shirts...I have to wear clothing that'll cover my legs and chest and use some concealer on my hands and arms. Gah. Im wondering...Will tanning (like in a tanning bed) Help conceal the red marks/scars? Im so pale and never have been tan in my life because I always burn, peel, revealing a shade darker skin tone( along with freckles on shoulders, nose and some on arms), and then back to pale because it fades...Is there a way to actually GET (or try and attempt) an actual tan? And besides cocoa butter and scar lotion treatments (such as scar zone and/or mederma) are there any other effective options to fade the marks left behind from the countless and endless sessions of prior picking? Thanks! =D

whats up a regimen for scars and pigmentation that i read bout is:
vinegar and water mixture for the face and drink lemonade.--to take toxins out
i'm doing the vinegar and water mixture daily, several times a day like an astrigent.
i'm not sure how well it works...but it doesn't seem to be harmful. use like 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar.
i read about it on acne.org...on their message boards...under the scars thread.
try it...see how it works.

Here are two that have helped me:
1. Vitamin A and Vitamin D Ointment- I bought a tube of this at the drugstore after I saw my mom using it after surgery. It's a nice, thick emollient- I put a thick layer on an area that I need to heal before bed or before I shower. It's given some quick help before dates, etc.
2. My friend made me a natural skin toner made with green tea. It really calms and soothes irritated skin. She found the recipe in a book, but you can probably find it online.

Just to say: I've tried using tea tree oil and have tried aloe vera cream, they both worked really well overnight calming inflamation and shrinking the scars. I tried TCP aswell which i think helped but im not sure lol cus it looked much better after i took my makeup off but that happens a lot too so anway..healing from within i think is important i might give those supplements n vitamin e capsules a try. Where do you get the capsules just like in the supermarket or off ebay? Oh an also...has anyone else tried that brazillian snail cream called elicinca which is to heal scars etc. i tried it and it was working but i ran out and didnt have time to buy a new one. Also..this may seem a bit far out but im detoxing at the moment and have found that my face has been healing faster around two weeks in and it is generally more radiant! ahh allll that goodness!

Vitamin k gel works wonders for minimizing redness. It is marketed for dark under eye circles (it works well for that too-also spider veins) and comes in a little green and white jar. It's about $10 at most drug stores but you don't use a lot. I just dab a tiny bit on problem areas multiple times a day. When I am at home I apply a tiny amount of vitamin k and generic scar gel (sold at just about any drug or grocery store for like $2 to $5) every time I go to the bathroom. On days I have an insane urge to pick I don't apply it with my fingers because if I can feel the bump I'll want to "just take a closer look" so I use a moistened q-tip. This has worked for me in the most dire of situations. When I use this I notice a difference even from morning to that night.
Another "quick fix" is a stealthy make up hand. First use a gentle exfoliater to help take off those little scabs that seem to suck up so much makeup and look all crusty. I use Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. Don't scrub too hard because it could cause fresh excoriations to seip. Applying makeup is a lot like painting: start out on a clean slate, use quality paint, and take your time for the best results. Sometimes I can apply my makeup alone, but when I am feeling tempted I look to the support of others. I leave the door open and my fiance frequently walks by to check on me. I spend most of my time on my foundation. I treat each and every blemish, but I do not let myself get unrealistically close to a mirror. Next time you are in a social situation pay attention to just how close you get to people. Chances are you don't get anywhere near as close as you do when you are picking. I use a lip brush to apply my foundation, and a makeup sponge to lightly dab and blend it. I don't apply foundation all over my face, but in order to do this I had to purchase a foundation that was exactly my skin tone. I gently apply powder over the blemishes to help them from getting greasy.
I also use what I refer to as the diversion method, that is to draw attention away from my blemishes. By playing up my eyes or lips, wearing my long hair down, or wearing a shirt that has an interestingly shaped collar or pretty print it makes me feel like people aren't looking at my scarred face as much. Drawing attention down is a good thing if you pick your face, like wearing neat shoes or a cute skirt. I know a girl who picks at her legs so she always wears tights with cute boots and skirts. Basically what I am saying is when I wear clothes I like and am comfortable in I feel good.
These are just some of the stuff I do when I am in a pinch so to speak. Hopefully this can help someone as it has helped me!

Anyone tried any of the DHC products (http://www.dhccare.com) for lightening? I'm a huge fan of their Deep Cleansing Oil makeup remover... it's AMAZING (that' s a whole 'nother topic!) And was wondering about the lightening stuff for scars.
