SO yeah...this board is so awesome. Who knew that other people do this horrible, addicting, thing too. Well...yeah...lately ive been going pick & poke crazy...and pretty much my WHOLE body is covered in lil scabs and scars. They seem to be healing really slow....and the scars are really visible. So how do I speed up the healing process and quickly make the scars fade away or be less visible/noticeable. Its so horrible, I have to keep my arms and legs covered constantly and this also prevents me from engaging in sexual experiances and taking up sexual opportunities. I need a quick fix!

I have read that tea tree oil does a good job at healing..that is actually what I am in the process of using along with other meds like dynacin and retin-a..but i had a bad picking session and I was desperate for some fast help. Tea Tree Oil is supposed to help the swelling and irriation go down. Let me know how it works for you and I'll keep you updated on mine

Its so tempting to use loads of things at once. Try to choose just one thing and stick to that. Palmers cocoa butter is amazing....really good for fading scars.
I pick constantly at my bikini line. It is an absolute mess but it is the only place i now pick. So i completely understand what you say about avoiding sexual situations. It upsets me constantly but i keep trying to tell myself that if i was to meet anyone really special i would be able to tell them about my picking problem and they would understand. Probably wont happen but i cant give up hope yet. Just wanted you to know that i understand.
Good luck with finding something that works. Please let me know how it goes Lou xxxxxxxxx

The aloe is really a great start. In order for a scab to heal and fall off with minimal scarring it needs to be kept moist. Are you squeezing the gel from a live leaf? Or using a store-bought gel? The live leaf is goung to be much more potent, but depending on where you live possibly very hard to find this time of year. WalMart down here (AL) carries Aloe plants for $2.50 and tea tree oil in the supplements/vitamins section for about $4.00. You might want to consider picking up some supplements as well, I think they're helping (w/healing) but I'm sure some people think it's hocus pocus. I take ester-c (you need C to regenerate skin cells, esp. collagen) fish oil (the epa and dha help w/inflamation and dehydration) and a B multi (b helps w/ just about everything-stress, healing, metabolism, etc.)
You can use Hyaluronic Acid serum topically (www.skinstore.com or http://www.naturalskinshop.com). It hold more than 100 times it's weight in water. It's really expensive though. Like $30 for 1 oz. You just mix 50/50 with water, and your skin just drinks it up. I read about it on a different picking site, works for me, and its noncomedogenic.
Hope this helps!!

Yeah I have an aloe vera plant. Ive recently discovered an EXCELLENT face mask too! The Thymes Hydrating face mask. Its awesome and its not one of those clay like masks, its like a moisture gel mask. So Tea tree oil is in the vitamen and supplement aisle? Like vitamen E capsules?

Yes they both are in the vitamin ailse. I have been using this tea tree oil for about three days now..and it has helped my face so much. The swelling and inflammation go down so much faster. But to heal the scars use vitamin e or coco butter. Yea you just break open those liquid capsules and put it on your face.

Just to let you know I have had some great luck with the vitamin e oil. I need to try the capsules that you break open and put on your face. But the oil has really helped my skin heal from scars! Thanks for everyone's advice. It has really helped me.

I have also been using Proactiv's Skin Lightening Lotion-it makes that dark spots on my face that aren't acne any more..just places where I have picked-fade faster to. I think that has helped more than vitamin e oil. You can buy just the lotion at a mall or something. I live in the dallas area and there are several malls around me that carry it.

By far the best healing remedy I have found is a Swiss moisturizer called Elta. It is NOT expensive, and can be found in your better (non-chain) drug stores, or Google "Elta Moisturizers" for more info/ options. Derms use it to treat burn victims, the extremely dry skin of diabetics, and for the healing of plastic surgery wounds. It is safe for sensitive skin, non-comedogenic and fragrance free. The trick is you wet your skin before you apply the cream and it retains 90% moisture for 12 hours.
This stuff is great for preventing scars by keeping the site soft and not letting any hard scabbing occur, which we all know is how scars form. To heal I use the original red jar and keep it on clean skin as much as possible when I am at home. It's a little too much to wear in public because of how soft the sites are. They look yucky, but heal extremely fast. I've had it heal a scab overnight.
I've also been looking at their other products for healing wounds, they look very interesting...
Neosporin and Vitamin E never agreed with my skin but this works wonders for me.
Let me know if this helps you,
Speedy Healing, MCH
