I have been a face picker for over five years, im 21 now and i realize that i have done ALOT of damage to myself (scars, missing school, taking off work, avoiding situations, lying, canceling plans) so while i do still pick i am trying VERY hard not to, i have finally told my family my problem because they were getting so concerned after seeing huge scabs forming on my face that even the best of makeup could not cover.
If you are like me maybe you do it after getting stressed or just out of boredom... i want to tell everyone out there about what has healed my scabs ... i haven't found a cure to stopping the picking but i have learned how to heal extremly fast so that if i do pick and im can't go out because my face is so messed up i have the option of healing myself fast.
What has really helped me is steaming my face after i have picked it and smothering on vitamin e oil... it may break you out more because the oil is so strong BUT it heals the skin super fast, this weekend i had a huge chunk of skin that i picked so i dried it out with benzol peroxide and it burned my entire face and my face was nearly black in color it was so burned... also growing fresh aloe and then putting pieces in the blender and refrigerating it is great to put on your face along with a combonation of honey and olive oil which was used in ancient times to heal wounds and honey speeds up healing because of the moisture and it pulls out impurities, ive also heard that honey is great for old scabs and indented scars, the darker the honey the more potent.
also neosporin makes something called scar patches i believe? they are large sticky adhesive patches for scars, they do well in speeding up the healing of closed scabs because they RETAIN moisture, ive always tried drying my face out because i thought that if my scabs dried faster i could peel them off and they would be gone, but healing a scab with moisture is actually the best thing for it, in two days your scabs will peel off and red skin will be left underneath that will in a couple weeks time return to normal color... also the sun plays a major part in my life, getting outside and getting at LEAST 10 minutes of fresh air and sun should be part of our lives everyday... i just wanted to write this because i have a horrible habit of picking my face then i am left with ugly huge bloody scabs on my face that turn dark because they are scabbing and i wanted to help other people that may not know what to do, if you have any questions please ask me because i would love to help, right now my face has no scabs or scars and i burned my whole face this weekend and it was scabbing over so bad that i couldn't go out and by monday i was fine:)
I hope everyone has a great week!! ;D
~I just wanted to add, running in the fresh air(or any exercise you enjoy) and drinking up to 8 glasses of water everyday combined with human contact(they found that having positive personal interaction everyday heals your body faster than medicine), laughing and positive thinking has also been proven to speed up healing up to 50%
