I'm a 38 year old male and have scars on my arms and shoulders from years of skin picking. I'm pretty sure I can stop (especially after discovering this website and the fact that its much more widespread than I thought), but am very worried about permanent scaring. I'm a slave to long sleeve shirts and it'e extremely depressing. The scars are white and pink. They're a combintion of tan, pink and white and discolorations. I have olive skin and when I get sunburned and tanned I almost look completely fine; however this is obviously only temorary. A day or 2 after I'm in the sun I start to break out and the picking starts all over again. I'm almost afraid to stop because I would then know for sure if the scars were permanent. In additon to cocoa butter and Mederma, which I just go for the 1st time, I would like to know if there is any kind of cosmetic treatements availale, such as lazer procedures, chemical peesls, etc. THANK YOU.
