I used to be an outgoing person, but ever since this scar picking started, I've become more shy.
Today I'm going to the State Fair. I'm going to go out and have fun! :-) It's cooler today so I can wear long sleeves. That way, there's no fear of anybody seeing my scars. Phew!
For me, it's turned into to a fear thing. Fear that somebody will know.

newandbetterme,
You live in NYC, right? Go out! Even if it's just to run an errand. No one cares what you look like. Once you feel that, you'll be more compelled not to hide inside (where I imagine it's just easier to do more damage). You could even just go out with a silly bandage on and if anyone says anything give a really stupid excuse, then revel in the fact that they fell for it and accept you anyway. People will feel about you how you lead them to feel about you.
