hi, im new! I thot i probably did have a problem with pickin at my skin so I searched and found this website. I get really obsessed with my skin. Right now I hav such a bad spot on my head which I picked at and now its all sore and red and I dont kno what to do! I seriously get obsessed with it! I havent been outta the house at all today and I keep runnin to a mirror to see it and end up touching at it again! I just want it to clear away so I can get bak to 'normal' but I kno that if I get another big spot the same will happen again. Would really appreciate anyones advice , im just under 20 so you can imagine how embarrassing this can be. Please give my advice, thanks!

Hey sweetie, I just joined yesterday! It was basically the same thing you did, I looked up "face picking" and found this. It's so nice to know that someone else is dealing with the same thing...for the longest time, I thought it was just me. I know what you mean about the frantic runs to the mirror and stuff, I do that too all the time, and I hate myself for the way I make my skin look. I think I could be pretty if I didn't pick. So I'm trying to stop...there's a Zero Tolerance group on this site, so I unofficially joined that, and today is day one. I usually don't pick until right before bed though, so I'm going to have to stay strong then. I'm so glad I found this site, and found other people going through it. Write back if you want! Emily

yeh i kno, its soo difficult to make yourself not do it, drives me mad! Glad tht sum1 else is going thru the same. I kno that underneath it all I can be pretty too which the most frustrating part - its only 1 spot the now but bcos its all red n infected blablabla it soooo noticable so its what ppl look at as soon as they see me. Thats why i havent been outta the house for coupla days now! if i had confidence and i could stop picking i kno id be so much happier, so im tryin my very hardest. Im not puttin much makeup on 2day or 2mro and not goin out of the house so that hopefully ill look a lot better for the weekend! Im still so frustrated cos if i hadnt of picked i wouldnt have this problem but i guess im just not registering that in my brain

evilness, I also found this site by using a search engine! And, I have also realised that my worst picking times are in the morning when I take my clothes off (ie, to have a shower; get dressed), and at night just before I go to bed (usually my medication is starting to wear off). Well, that is all. Thanks for listening.

I Sillime, I haven't had that problem in a while, but when I have a big, red spot that hurts, the best thing I've found I can do for myself is to take an ice cube in a wash cloth and hold it to the spot. The ice helps reduce the swelling, and having the ice cube on my face keeps my hands occupied and reduces the urge to pick because I know I'm doing something good for the spot.
