the wound on my cheek, which i touched again
well the q is. its wierd. its really wide. well it seems relatively superficial around the center it seems to dry fast the middle is raised, whiter the surrounding is red, and flatter
well i know the idea is not to look, which after tonight i will let it scab over , maybe apply makeup tomorrow and allow it to heal alone no matte what.
the question is what's up with the thing in the middle? why is it whiter, and harder? has that ever happened to you? well i have noticed what makes me further pick is that the healing part looks very strange, that is why it is easier to let it heal under a scab versu leaving it open with a bandaid for me at least......
just let that scab on for 2 days and the harder it gets the closer to normal skin.

it sounds like it is swollen and possibly infected.. i have had those.. i usually clean them with hydrogen peroxide (yea ouch but it works) then give it a fully night of neosporin...by morning the redness and swelling will go down and it will have a protective layer on it so that makeup wont bother it

don't touch it! I had one of those on my cheeck. and I was positive that the whiteness in the center was something else to pop and I was convinced it needed to come out. I picked and picked, got tweezers etc.- and it did come out. but now I have a deep hole in my cheek. a hole. not a little scar, not a little hole like a pore. A good size hole! totally visible when you look at me! It's been since september and the hole is not closing at all, so i guess i'm stuck with it..... I'd rather have a scar- at least you can cover that with makeup!

thanks zoner thats the best advice
scarreddaisy....i would pass on the peroxide, because it also damages the skin, instead i like what someone here suggested:
on a bandaid, they have regular size and huge ones. put neosporing a bit directly on the bandaid and apply over night.
what i do is i do that and in the mornign i have to leave like half hour to hour till scabs, usually half hour then can apply makeup. then leave the scab on for the time it takes to heal. if it peels off when washing, repeat with bandaid.
lwell i touched it again cause i thought there was something in there. i will remember what you said zoner and i will not probe anymore. its not deep, so i hope it will heal soon. it seems like a first or second degree burn.
QUESTION: when i retouched it parts got hard and yellow where it was burning red. i don't know if you understand what i mean. but when i apply tissue not much wooze comes off, so that gives me the sign that it is superficial and will make scab sooner than later, which is good. i hope i am right. what do you think?

if you think something is in there that needs to come out i would try a hot compress... ive done that with infected pores... make sures its not too hot though!! ive made that mistake a few times... the hot compress with bring the infection ( if there is one) to the surface

Instead of neosporin tonight try using the bandaid with vaseline on it overnight. See how it looks in the morning. Good luck!

Can you get an emergency appointment with a dermatologist...seriously, sometimes I think we try to play doctor on ourselves...with the pins and hot compresses, neosporin and bandaids, making it so much worse than it needs to be We are not doctors...we have no business sticking pins in our face (I say this because I, too, am guilty of this). A derm might have something that will quickly heal the wound. Just a thought...

I have to agree with overit. If you are concerned- go to a dermatologist. It actually sounds like it might be infected if it's burning hot and discolored. The doctor can give you a topical that will help get rid of the infection and help heal the wound. Let me know how you're doing with it.

zoner
you mean an open hole?
unhealed since september?
this happened to me when i first started this csp problem
if its still open it must be because you are not leaving it alone. believe me it happened to me too. if you leave a scab it will heal no matter what.
well i need to be tied up. i have responibility and can't get out of the house. i did touch the middle. but now i only have 3 days.
i need serious help. i am starting a new job and look what i have done. i will probably lose this job opportunity if things do't go well. meaning this thing won't look relatively normal soon.

I would call an advice nurse about the problem.

Anon, I've totally had that white thing in the middle too. It usually turns out to be tissue (once I've yanked it out). It's scar tissue, which means you're beginning to heal! Your body wants desperately to close that hole so its not vulnerable to bacteria. However, I think a trip to the doctor or dermatologist would help. Part of "our" problem is that we need to know what "it" is. We are often anxious about what will happen if we leave it alone. I usually think I'll get an infection if I leave something looking "unfinished". Try not to fall into the trap! If a doctor tells you what it is, it releive some of the urge to mess with it. Also, if it is infected, you might need some help with it.
Just remember that in reality, nothing ever heals faster or better by picking at it some more. You can get a lot healing done in three days if you let it happen.
Take care of yourself.

hey anon- just to clarify, my hole is not an open wound. It's just a hole. And actually, I do leave it alone now. It's kind of like a giant open pore if you get my drift. If me2 was right about the white in the center being scar tissue, then I think I picked out a portion of the scar tissue and what had healed around that tissue, stayed okay- so a 'void' was left there in the middle. So, now I just have a hole. I know I say giant- but it's not like it's marble size or anything- but still definately visible and not like a normal pore. I'd say it's about the size of a freckle or mole. Hey.... maybe I can get one of those fake moles to past on over it!!! make sence?

thaks for the response zoner. i do understand what u mean.
ok, now i have makeup on top of a scab on my cheek. should i wash it and apply more topical antibiotic? or best to leave it alone so the scab does not peel? the one on my temple is doing better, but the scab did peel off when i washed that area.
i'm scared. i hope it heals. thank god i am trying with will power to stay busy and not look.

You could dial information and get the number for a Kaiser facility or any other medical facility for that matter, and they will usually give you free professional advice by explaining the problem just as you did here. I'm almost positive you don't need medical insurance to speak to a nurse.
