I see mirrors mentioned often, and the covering or removal of them as part of therapy. Am I the only one who does the great majority of my picking without a mirror?
I actually find that if I've been digging like crazy for a while, getting a mirror so that I can see what's going on helps me to do less damage to my face. I don't tend to stare into a mirror searching for imperfections; my hands wander and feel for bumps. I also do a great deal of picking on the body, which of course doesn't require a mirror.
Anyone else not a mirror-picker?

Hi there- I just did my first post a minute ago and was nervous at first- but I guess once is all it takes! I do it with or without a mirror. If I'm using a mirror, it's basically for trying to get at pimples or pores on my face. but I also run my fingers around my face and scalp feeling for scabs. I pick at my arms, my back, my legs etc... basically anywhere I can get to (and believe me, I think I can get to every spot on my body). Where there's a will, there's a way... It seems to me that when I try to stop picking my face, I just pick more at other areas of my body- so covering the mirror won't work for me. Any suggestions from anyone?

yeah i do most of my picking without mirror... i use my fingers and feel for the imperfections.. in fact... sometimes I can't even see the "problem area" in the mirror;yet, I can feel it so I go after it because I know it willl rear its ugly head sooner or later... I also pick my back and I coudlnt see that in the mirror anyways so I am very accustomed to relying on my fingers to find things to pick rather than my eyes....

Those are the ones I try my hardest to leave alone, because when I pick them they invariably become month-long semi-infected swollen craters of ickiness that leave a scar. However, I eventually pick them anyway.

I used to use the mirror but it was never a problem. It is almost worse because picking then requires less conditions. I can pick in public if I just reach my hand up my shirt to my back or something and it seems like maybe I am itching(what others think). The mirror actually creates space and distance for me, like I can see myself better so I don't use it to pick. The mirror makes it more real and painful. It is like when you hold something right in front of your face and you cannot tell what it is since it's too close, when you pull it away it becomes clear. I have wondered, though never said anything, if others felt this way. Thanks.
