Hello, I was reading alot of information about face picking about a year ago. I have been picking ever since my junior year of high school (about 7 years ago). Everything I have tried didnt help. It am truly compuled to look for things to pick at... face, arms, legs, fingers etc. ONE thing has cured me about 90%. I am a Catholic/Christian. As you might know now is the Lenten season for Catholics. Catholics typically sacrafice something for 40 days during this period. Well... I made a promise to God that (for these 40 days at least) I will not pick my face and self mutilate it. I had to start off slow though... i kinda still pick at my finger nails. Although I broke down a couple of times and picked it wasnt nearly to the extent I usually did. Only about 1 min as opposed to an hour. Because of my strong religious convictions and my service towards God I am in the process of overcoming this challenge. If you make a promise, you dont want to break it! Especially if that promise is to God. I hope everyone will be able to use this information. Thanks!

Tony,
I am pretty new here. You can read my thread on the ZT board. That is great about lent.
I am not religious, although I do believe in God. Your post touched me because I think that believing in God means believing that God cares about us, and no one who cared about us would want to see us contniue to hurt ourselves. So your recent promise makes a lot of sense.
Keep it up.

I have done the same thing. I gave up picking my face for lent. It's the most control I've ever had, but I find now with only two weeks to go that I am really struggling. My stress level is really high because I won't let my self pick. Since I haven't picked, I have all these bumps under my skin, even with using my prescribed acne medication, so frustrated.
