I have found it helps me to cross off each day on my calendar when I don't pick. It really helps me to be aware of my behavior. I started at the beginning of February, and noticed that the longest I could go without picking was 6 days. Then I would have picking episodes two or three days in a row. My last picking episode was only one day, and now it has been 7 days since then, and I am still counting. Another thing that is helping me is to really focus on working out and being proud of my body. I have been doing yoga for a while, which helps in two ways. First of all, the breathing is really good when my nerves get ruffled (which of course leads to picking). Second, it helps develop your muscle tone, so that now I really want to get to the point where I can wear clothes that will show off my hard work. I have a long way to go, but I think these things help me maintain some level of focus.

great idea, i think being aware is the biggest thing. for me i go a month or so, all is healed, then i get obsessed and retouch old scars.

thanks for the idea..its helped me a lot over the past few week. i'm using a simple calender that just has the numbers for the days of all the months and its all on one sheet. so i circle the days that i pick and 'X' the days i don't. i started on monday, and so far i picked on mon (i read the post after i picked:() , not tues, not wed, on thurs, but not fri sat or..today!! my face is healing, and as treat i went make-up shopping with my mom yesterday and bought a lot of cool new products. now i am hooked to the site ivillage.com..because they have all these beauty product ratings, which are really fun to read. anyway, i think the calender-method really brings out that awareness. and sometimes i wish it were time to go to bed so i can mark off another day...kinda pathetic..but still good. everyone should try it out.

ok..hey everyone..just wanted to let y'all know that the calendar method isn't working for me anymore. it sucks, because i was getting all optimistic about it. well, i just had to pick some after a while, and u know how it goes. i don't know what to do now. because i thought i was on the right track. now i have too many spots on my face to feel the same. well, anyway, i was thinking maybe a picking journal could help more. maybe it would reinforce how i feel afterwards. but i don't think waiting till after the damage is done will help. i'll keep trying though. take care all.
