well folks, I just had a nice stay in the local hospital psychiatric ward...one week. Last Monday, i totally flipped out and took a bottle of xanax and slit my wrist. I now know, thanks to the doctors, that I am suffering from severe depression. I have had my picking under control for about a year with the help of 400mgs a day Seroquel. I am now taking Lexapro everyday too. It has already helped a great deal with the depression and suicidal thoughts. They wouldnt give me Seroquel in the hospital. I noticed within a few days that I was starting to "examine" my skin and run my hands all over it..just looking for a spot...as soon as I got home, I continued the Seroquel, and I have already got the picking under control...
If you r taking an antipsychotic drug and suspect u might have depression...then you need to take both an antidepressant and the antipsychotic drug (good for people who pull their hair out or pick their skin)
best to all of you
Carlee

Hey Moon, I'm sorry to hear what happened, glad you are alright though. I can totally related to what you are going through. I've been hospitalized twice. Last year I was hospitalized cause I overdosed on zanix and I used to cut my wrists too. I hope you are doing somewhat better than last week. Believe me, it takes time, but step by step we can get better. Please post and keep us updated on how you are doing.

Moon - I am sorry I did not respond to this earlier. I hope you are feeling better by now. Thank God you got help in time. I am sorry about the depression. I have suffered from depression for a long long time with lots of suicidal thoughts. It is tough. I hope the anti-depressants will help you. According to your profile on the site, it is your birthday today. Happy Birthday!! Wishing you all the best. Lots of sunshine and peace in your heart. hoppe
