Just wondering...
Do the scars ever fade? I would probably try and quit if i knew my skin would be healthy again. But looking at it just makes me pick even more!

Yep, scars fade! It depends on the severity of the initial wound, but scars can definitely fade with time. Give your scars patience, restraint and maybe a little bit of Mederma!

I don't know if this helps or not, but I used to pick my face a lot when I was younger. I noticed that indoor tanning (as unhealthy as it is) really helped my scars.

^ I was wondering that too. I occasionally dab some sudocrem cream on if ive picked - though im not sure if this actually does any good? I do find its psychologically beneficial to feel like you're 'healing' something, even if it is only a placebo, however

Yes, scars fade! Don't forget how many advances have also been made in recent years to lessen and even erase scars. Who knows what kind of progress will be made in the future. Stay hopeful

to vandyk and ripitup, you could probably order mederma online from us suppliers, but earlier this year i picked up a leaflet at the gp surgery about a uk equivalent called dermatix. i went to boots and i thought they said it was £70 so i didnt buy it, although i think i misheard/ they made a mistake cos i just checked the price on the dermatix site and its £29.99 for a 15g tube plus £1.60 postage: www.dermatix.co.uk/portallike i said, i didnt buy any so this is not an endorsement of any kind- might work, might not! im british, from london, btw. ive been a member of this board since february, but have been feeling kind of depressed recently (not boohoo, just... quiet, i guess) and havent posted much. nevertheless, nice to meet you ! take care, rae xxx

Thats great rae, thanks for the link. Might look into that, most of my marks fade really well over time, but have a few stuborn ones up on my temples which seem like theyve been there for years... Another Londener here too, though originally from up North. Im hoping to live down here when im finished uni, has become like home. Don't think I could do without the all-night busses now

Hi! I wanted to let you know about this stuff I've used, Dr. Brandt "Microdermabrasion in a Jar". It's expensive, $75, but it works awesome and the stuff lasts a long time bc you only use a little of it at a time. It exfoliates the skin and leaves your skin super smooth. With one use, I noticed a difference in my skin. Over time, it helps to reduce the appearance of scars, and it helps to keep your pores clean. I'm out right now but plan to buy some more. I just need to save some $ first. lol You can buy it at Sephora or online on the Dr. Brandt website. IT IS WORTH IT!

ive found something thats a lot less expenisive then all of your stuff. it might take a little longer but from what ive heard from your posts it has got more benefits also.
its neutrogena multi vitamin lotion. its supposed to help prevent acne and make scars disappear. on the box it says that it starts preventing acne right away and by the 8th week it starts disappearing redness.
im only on the 5th week and its working great. my skin always feels smooth and the redness is already going away.
i think its about $6.00 at any place they sell neutrogena stuff... hopefully its available in the uk...... good luck.
